Bush Meets with Families of Troops Killed in Iraq

DONNELLY, Idaho (AP) - President Bush ends a visit to Idaho today by telling troops and military families the sacrifices made by US forces in Iraq are worth it.

The president will speak to personnel from the Idaho National Guard and Mountain Home Air Force Base at a rodeo and concert venue near Boise. Afterward, he'll visit privately with families who've lost loved ones in Iraq.

Nearly half of the Idaho Guard is currently deployed there.

This will be the third time this week Bush has argued anti-war protesters camped near his Texas ranch are wrong. Yesterday, he told reporters the immediate pullout from Iraq that Cindy Sheehan and others are seeking would harm US security.

9. Luckily for the opposition,
he didn't do this the day Cindy announced her intention to go to Crawford. If he had seen a family or two every day (or even less frequently - unscreened, he could have won or at least gotten a draw in the PR war.

He would say he HAD met with Cindy and was continuing to meet with families. They could be unscreened because, by and large, most people are two awed by the circumstances to coherently attack the President. (Cindy didn't in her first meeting)

Now, it's clearly a response to Cindy.

16. One woman, in particular, struck me by how she got snowed over.
She was wanting to confront the Propagandist and level some hard-hitting questions. The article mentioned she is about 5' and her brother was 6' 7" and would pat her on the top of the head and it would calm her.

She said the Propagandist did the same to her (patted her on the head like a little child, I'm sure) and it disarmed her.

Something struck me about that and I got to thinking of these faith healers and how they lay their hands on people's heads. I think the Propagandist thinks of himself in the same way as one of these faith healers.

He's a charlatan, at best.

17. ChimPee has a THING for petting bald men on the head
I had no idea he was into petting women's heads, too. Maybe he really is for equal rights, in his own queer way.

22. Oh, I wouldn't rule that out yet
Think about it. He doesn't know those families, so how does he know that they won't appear totally docile and agreeable until they actually experience what Cindy went through? I think we might need to have a wait and see philosophy, because some of these families might surprise the chimp in a way he's not going to forget for a very long time.

7. It looks like Karl's vacation is over at least.
What kind of idiot would actually believe that the death of their loved one in dumbass's phony war is "worth it"?

When are these military families going to stop enabling this kind of PR bullshit by meeting with this monumental failure?

10. You Can Bet Your Cowboy Boots That The MSM Will Play......
this up big. These families will be interviewed and they will say that * cried with them during their private time with him and that he has alot of compassion for them and those lost in the war. They will denounce Cindy and others in Crawford. They will support the pResident and the war effort. More totally manipulated news for the sheeple to buy into.

Funny he can't say these things to the people who are asking him, he has to go hundreds of miles away to say it to a hand picked audience.

You'd think if this (nonexistent) cause were so fucking noble, it'd be a talking point.

25. Why would any one of these families want to meet with
bush (& I'll include Cindy in this). There is nothing to talk to him about. Does anyone really want to hear him say "I understand." No, he doesn't and he never will and never can. Neither can I imagine that anyone would want bush at a family funeral. Why would they? Token visits here and there and to Walter Reed - no way - stay out of the way bush.
