Arrests, Rhetoric Highlight Protests (Hypocrite Freeps @ Crawford)

CRAWFORD - With five days left until the end of anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan's vigil near President Bush's ranch, Crawford became protest central Saturday as supporters and opponents of the Iraq war rallied, marched and simmered in 101-degree heat.

A handful also got themselves arrested, including a protester whose anti-Sheehan sign was deemed unnecessarily offensive by organizers of a large pro-Bush rally. The man carrying the sign became violent when he was asked to put it down.

Ken Robinson, of Richardson Texas, who described himself as a Vietnam veteran, was carrying a sign at a "You Don't Speak For Me Cindy!" rally. The sign read, "How to wreck your family in 30 days by 'b**** in the ditch' Cindy Sheehan."

Kristinn Taylor, an event organizer with FreeRepublic.com. heard about the sign and rushed up to Robinson.

"This is our rally and you can't do that here," he said, only for Robinson to insist he was within his rights.

Camera crews rushed in and Taylor turned to face them.

"To all the media here, this sign is not representative of the crowd here today," Taylor announced. Some of the crowd around Robinson came forward to shake his hand, while others chanted, "Idiot, go home!"

The two men then squared off and raised their voices.

"Just get outta here!" Robinson yelled, and aimed a kick at Taylors midsection. Taylor called for security, and a young Woodway policeman quickly showed up.

The head count for both rallys seemed a bit off. The pro-Bush crowd largely inhabited a football stadium (which is how big now? We are talking about Crawford Texas... not Houston). But the pro-Cindy crowd has 2 campsites and the Crawford Peace House. Just how many Pro-Cindy protesters are there again?? I think they flip-flopped their numbers.

How appropriate that the only arrests were made at the Pro-War rally... fucking hate-filled morons are attacking each other for not being vile enough. :eyes:

I am reminded of an old episode of Quincy regarding an (fictitious) ex-Nazi Concetration Camp guard nicknamed "Der Teufel" (the devil).

In the conclusion of that episode, Der Teufel comes into court with chest held high to announce during a slander case in which Busheviks are trying to "prove" the Holocaust never happened, that it DID happen.

"If ANYONE taks of the great things we did, even a Jew, he is telling the truth."

Der Teufel's prideful testimony wrecks the slander defense and gives eyewitness credibility.

The astonished Busheviks come up to him and ask why he did that, wrecked their case, when he was one of them.

"These things happened, and I am proud of them," replies Der Teufel.

The Bushevik sneers quietly to him, "Yes, and you help assure that it won't be able to happen again."

But of course if he had been a Fox News watcher, Der Teufel would have KNOWN to swallow his pride and lie.

It is a lesson the modern REAL-LIFE Busheviks have taken quite to heart. We will only see what they TRULY are when there is no longer anything left of Free America.

ONLY then, until then...they must lie like the Nazis they ARE.

I spoke to a reporter from this paper yesterday, and pointed to the tent, asking him to note that there were at least 2000 people inside it at that point. I don't know how many Freepers were in Crawford: there were a lot. But there were several thousands at Camp Casey II.

endurance--most of them--and just a big emptiness inside, that they fill with false phrases and let out as hot air. The peace activists on the other hand have real heart, real passion, and real commitment. They have stuck it out, and will stick it out, in all the heat and harsh conditions, and will march on Washington. That's the long and the short of it. The pro-Bushites have no stamina. No real conviction.

The few among the pro-Bushites who may have good hearts and sincerity somewhere inside will come round to Cindy's position eventually, because no one with a good heart and sincerity likes war. No one! The military least of all. And the pointlessness of this war--other than the motives of greed and empire for the benefit of a few--will soon hit home. The injustice of it. The wrongness of it. And the catastrophic of it.

I think some people--among the small minority who have ever supported this disaster*--have mixed up loyalties and confused thinking. For instance, they may think that Bush is a "conservative." (--har, har, har). They may therefore be out there, willing to hold a sign, because of loyalty to their political ideas--though they are likely extremely misinformed about what the Bush Cartel really is, and what it is doing (a Saudi royal-connected oil consortium that funded Al Qaeda in the first place, and may still be funding it, and that is literally breaking the American piggie bank, to the tune of a trillion dollar deficit). Or they may feel that they are being loyal to "the troops" by unthinking, kneejerk flag-waving. I suppose every one of them should be asked, "Why aren't you volunteering for Iraq?" But I think more gentle educational efforts will work better--except for the truly heartless or stupid Freeper-types, or those on the rightwing payroll.
