Al-Queda Using IRA Bomb Methods

Mortar bombs like the one the IRA used to kill RUC Constable Colleen McMurray in 1992 are now being used by al-Queda in Iraq.

Families Acting for Innocent Relatives spokesman Willy Frazer said members of the bomb squad stationed in Iraq have contacted him to reveal the IRA technology .

These include mortar bombs triggered by flash-gun unit commonly used by photographers, which has been used recently to kill and maim soldiers and civilians.

He said: "The military in Iraq have worked out how to jam other triggers for bombs - but they do not yet know how to jam beams.
