Judge says Guantanamo Bay detainees must be asked if their identities can be revealed

---------------------
NEW YORK -- A judge ordered the Department of Defense to ask Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, naval base detainees whether they want their names to be made public.

The judge said each detainee could answer "yes" or "no" to the question of whether he wanted his identity revealed.

"One might well wonder whether the detainees share the view that keeping their identities secret is in their own best interests," he said.

He said it would be easy to find out by asking each detainee.

The judge said he will approve a final form for the question by Sept. 12 and receive a summary from the government of how the detainees responded by Oct. 7.

1. Before or after they are tortured to say "no"?

2. Edit this if you can. You're saying "reveled" not "REVEALED" in the
title line. Thanks.

3. "Yes, we asked him. He said, first, I want to stay in this nice place.
"Then he said, second, please don't let my family and friends know what happened to me, because I would be so embarrassed to be sitting out the jihad.

"Then he said, finally, please piss on my Koran and have a half naked menstruating female officer feed me a pork sandwich. Of course, we refused THAT request. It was the second time, and we had moved on.

"No, I'm afraid you can't talk to him yourself to confirm what I am saying."

4. funny how suddenly the detainees interests are a consideration
seems to me the goal here has more to do with delaying the release of this stuff until AFTER that 'vote' in iraq in mid-october.
