On his two-day swing through Southern California, President Bush's agenda included a stop Monday in Rancho Cucamonga to discuss Medicare and an address Tuesday to veterans in San Diego.

Conspicuously absent is a meeting with the state's most prominent Republican political figure, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Schwarzenegger has ``no plans'' to meet with Bush privately or publicly, said his communications director, Rob Stutzman. White House spokesman Ken Lisaius said Bush's busy schedule in California didn't accommodate an appearance with Schwarzenegger.

``The president has a full schedule out there, and I would imagine the governor is equally busy,'' Lisaius said. ``The president enjoys a good relationship with Governor Schwarzenegger, and if we don't see him on this trip we'll see him another time.''.......

1. The real reason is unspoken...
but non the less true. Niether can help the other, because boths approval ratings are in the toilet.

3. well, the Brits know that.

.....Political observers said it's understandable that the two leaders would keep their distance now, given their low approval ratings in California and their different political agendas.

5. California has been protesting the Gropenator
before Bushs Sheehan problem....I suspect that the two of them together would be a reason for many many people to"come out" in this BLUUUUUU state.....I would love to have seen it.

10. Bush has to be seen with people with credibility. Why Blair was flown
in on pretense so Bush could deny DSM significance. Why dress uniformed army, navy, airforce or marines often make the backdrop to his speeches.

The man cannot stand alone - because he has no clothes. Will not stand with Arnie because he needs someone to make him look good. Too bad Powell resigned. He was the only one who was worth standing beside..even though they fooled Powell into giving that speech at the UN.

But that hasn't stopped Bush from standing beside Powell at times .... there has been at least one dinner date with the Powell's in Alexandria where the press were warned to show up at. I see a dinner date with Powell in the near future.

14. Yeah, I imagine the two smug smirks
have as good a relationship as possible for two fascists spiraling downward out of control.

Whassa matter?..didn't they want to be double protested?
