CNN 2:10pm PST--Huge Fire in NO--oil storage facility
Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 04:17 PM by Heddi
Just watching CNN---reporter says there is a huge fire that has been burning for the last 2 hours, think it's something to do with oil or petroleum and may be an oil storage facility that is on fire....

On edit--I cannot find a link on CNN or any other station's website. Just reporting what the reporter was saying. You could see the dark black smoke behind him as he spoke.

Said fire is on the Mississippi River side...

4. Gas jumped from
$2.66/gallon to $2.90/gallon here in Madison, Wisconsin today. This is getting ugly.

3. Pray, PRAY there are no industrial propane tanks nearby.
I was born and raised in New Orleans, in Chalmette. Once, I think it was Texaco, had an oil container explode and catch fire (the big cylinderical ones). It was right next to an industrial propane container (they look like HUGE spheres).

An oil fire at a refinery is horrible.

If one or more propane containers go, it will completely flatten buildings/houses/etc for at least once square mile. After the fire I describe above (which happened sometime between 80-83) there were reports that if a single propane tank had blown it would have been the equivalent of an atom bomb dropped on the city.

I don't believe in god but I'm praying real hard right now.
