(KY) Gov. Fletcher Says Grand Jury Should Disband
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 04:02 PM by Roland99

Fletcher says he will not pardon himself if indicted on charges that he abused the merit system. "I'm here. I'm captain of this ship and the buck stops here."

However, the governor says the grand jury itself should be excused as the administration is conducting its own investigation.

But Prosecutor Scott Crawford Sutherland says "the executive branch cannot by law tell the judicial branch to stop work."

Sutherland says the grand jury will complete its investigation and possibly report its findings to the U.S. Attorney General.

What a pompous ASSHOLE!

2. I called his office a couple of days ago
What I failed to say when I talked to the phone answerer was that I was thoroughly disgusted that he spent his day covering his own ass while untold thousands were simultaneously being killed by a hurricane.

I did, however, remember to tell her that I hope he was dragged out of office and made to face federal charges. The lady on the other end of the phone was very nice, for what it's worth.

8. Hey! Don't forget Sonny Perdue in Georgia!
"Gov. Sonny Perdue, who has championed ethics reform legislation for three years, Friday became Georgia's first governor fined by the State Ethics Commission for campaign violations.

As part of a consent order approved by the State Ethics Commission, the Republican governor agreed to pay a $1,900 fine and repay $18,000 in excess campaign contributions to settle a host of complaints lodged against him by the Democratic Party of Georgia.

Teddy Lee, executive secretary of the commission, said it marked the first time a governor was forced to pay a civil penalty for ethics violations since Georgia created an ethics panel three decades ago."

Let's see, surely there is Repub criminality in Tennessee too to connect all this...

Ahh yes, of course;

"(Nashville) - The State Republican Party sent a letter to Governor Phil Bredesen asking him to promptly call for a special election to fill State Representative Chris Newton's seat once it is vacated.

On Sunday, Newton resigned his seat effective November 1. He pled guilty on Monday to federal bribery charges, and the State Republican Party asked for his resignation immediately due to the fact a convicted felon should not be serving in elected office."

a short period of time, there just have to be many others yet disclosed - and I'm hoping Stumbo is sitting on at least one with Federal implications..
