US governor stands by mosque wiretapping comments

----------------------
BOSTON (Reuters) - Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, mulling a White House bid in 2008, on Thursday stood by his comments in favor of wiretapping mosques after religious leaders stepped up demands for him to take them back.

Civil rights groups and Muslim leaders have blasted the Republican governor since he raised the prospect on September 14 of putting some Muslim students and their teachers under surveillance.

On Thursday, Christian, Muslim and Jewish leaders delivered a petition to his office signed by 75 people from a dozen religious groups urging him to reconsider his views.

Romney refused, telling Reuters in an interview that attacks by Islamic terrorists in London and the United States justify stronger scrutiny by U.S. authorities on activity at mosques in America.

4. Mittens is pandering to a crowd that doesn't trust Mormons either.
If we're going to bug houses of worship for suspicious activity,
let's start with that big Mormon temple in your "home" town of Belmont.

Doesn't that idiot know that he belongs to a religious minority group?

and videotapped and monitored to excess, how 'bout that, mr. america mitt?

Each elected official, at least on a national level, recorded every moment when acting in official cpacity. You're acting on my behalf, I have a right to see what you're doing.Well, in this case, the people of MA do, at least.

Hate as a campaign tactic. I just never gets old, does it?

8. Romney is a political whore
He's mangled his church positions to meet his power grab. How he was ever elected in MA is beyond me.

11. then I'm sure Mitt wouldn't mind wiretapping Catholic Churches...
...to root out any remaining pedophiles. While he's at it, we'll start tapping political action committee offices, energy company headquarters, the White House, and anywhere else that crimes against our country are perpetrated. And then he can wipe his ass with the Bill of Rights - every conservative's dream. Mother-#&@%!#$...
