Poll: Bush's job approval remains low

Associated Press

WASHINGTON - President Bush's job approval is mired at the lowest level of his presidency, and public feelings about the nation's direction have sunk to new depths in an Associated Press-Ipsos poll.

People are anxious about Iraq, the economy, gas prices and the management of billions of dollars being spent for recovery from the nation's worst natural disaster.

...

Only 28 percent say the country is headed in the right direction and two-thirds, 66 percent, say the country is on the wrong track, the AP-Ipsos poll found.

...

Bush's job approval was 39 percent in the poll, about where he's been for the three months.

1. Quite a mandate bush has, isn't it!! The problem is he will never...
listen to what the people think or want. Maybe it's time he started listening to the polls and not waste his time promoting the war in Iraq.

Notice the pattern. It makes you wonder what he is going to do (if he does anything) to get a mini spike back up...

6. What a miserable failure looks like.
The only times opinion has improved are those where he and his bushistas have manufactured headlines.

If you go back to his election in 2000, the decline begins immediately after he takes office.

7. Watching The Gee Dubya Limbo Bar With Anticipation
I'm watching Gee Dubya's poll figures with anticipation and glee. It's something like watching the limbo bar being set lower and lower and lower. How much further can His Nibs' poll figures decline, and how many "Conservative" Republicans can he drag down with him?

Poll: Groups Unhappy With Bush Performance

By WILL LESTER
The Associated Press

WASHINGTON —

Evangelicals, Republican women, Southerners and other critical groups in President Bush's political coalition are worried about the direction the nation is headed and disappointed with his performance, an AP-Ipsos poll found.

That unease could be a troubling sign for a White House already struggling to keep the Republican Party base from slipping over Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers, Gulf Coast spending projects, immigration and other issues.

"Politically, this is very serious for the president," said James Thurber, a political scientist at American University. "If the base of his party has lost faith, that could spell trouble for his policy agenda and for the party generally."

Sentiment about the nation's direction has sunk to new depths at a time people are anxious about Iraq, the economy, gas prices and the management of billions of dollars being spent for recovery from the nation's worst natural disaster.

AP-Ipsos Poll Finds President Bush's Core Supporters Are Disappointed With His Performance

By WILL LESTER Associated Press Writer
The Associated Press

WASHINGTON Oct 8, 2005 — Critical elements in President Bush's political coalition have grown less enthusiastic about the job he is doing, an AP-Ipsos poll found. That's a troubling development for a president trying to firm up his base of support.

Evangelical voters, Republican men, Southerners and Protestants have lost some intensity in their support for the president since the beginning of this year.

The White House is already struggling to keep the Republican base from eroding because of Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers, hurricane-recovery spending projects, immigration and other issues.

"Politically, this is very serious for the president," said James Thurber, a political scientist at American University. "If the base of his party has lost faith, that could spell trouble for his policy agenda and for the party generally."

14. Bush Approval Drops Among Previously Staunch Backers, AP Finds
Oct. 8 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush's approval rating is softening among groups that previously constituted some of his strongest support, according to an Associated Press/Ipsos Public Affairs poll taken Oct. 3-5.

Thirty-three percent of white evangelicals said they ``strongly approved'' of the way Bush is doing his job, down from 49 percent from findings in January, AP said. The percentage of Southerners who strongly approve of Bush's performance dropped to 22 percent from 32 percent in January. <snip>

Bush's overall approval rating among the 1,000 adults surveyed remains at a low of 39 percent, the same level as in an AP-Ipsos poll taken in September. That includes people who said they strongly approved, somewhat approved or leaned toward approving the president's job performance. In the latest poll, 58 percent of adults said they disapproved of the way Bush was handling his job, down from 59 percent a month ago. <snip>

can no longer look the other way and remain silent. If you missed them on Bill Maher Friday night make sure you catch the repeat. Man is pissed of because of Miers' nomination and Sullivan admitted he no longer trusts Bush.

18. Local Republicans Stink of Bush
At every level the public must be made aware that being a Republican office holder means you are part of the incompetence and cronyism and approve of its means and the results. As W's polls sink it should be an albatross and an anchor around the necks of local and state profligates.
