Military families rally to bring troops home

It wasn't always so communal for this unique wing of the anti-war movement. In the beginning, its message seemed almost too tricky to express: Support the troops - of course, their family members were the troops - but oppose the war.

So, many, like Fred and Marianne D'Amato - parents of Christopher, 23, a reservist who drives an army truck in Iraq - held their tongues and crossed their fingers. They thought they were alone and maybe a little strange, a military family against the war.

Then in September, when it looked like Christopher might stay for more than a year, his father got fed up and painted a sign for his yard: "Support Our Troops, Impeach Bush Admin."

UTAH
Hundreds of protesters here in Utah...marched at the state capitol... demanding President Bush bring the troops home.
News Specialist Kimberly Houk joins us now live from the capitol with more.
Protesters all over the nation were marching to the same tune today.
They don't want America to have anything more to do with Iraq.

Support for this war and the pretzledent is dropping even faster than morale at a Reservist recruiting station.

Many soldiers said they still resent being kept in Kuwait from early June to mid-July with no active mission before finally boarding their flights home. And some officers said they do not know how to plan for the next year because they have received no hard information for scheduling.
"Even in prison, you know when you're going to be executed," said Lieutenant Dave Rajenranath, 27, of Miami. "You know when your release date is."

Old Glory hangs from my porch , and below it are
the words "support our troops Impeach bush"

On my Garden arch hangs a huge yellow ribbon (actually is
fabric) so it can withstand being their long term .Next
to the garden arch is the sign "Bring them home NOW"

I have focussed my bumber stickers on this messege
as well . Yesterday at the protest I got the new
sticker "Honor Vets Wage Peace" which sits right
below "Patriots Support Troops Not bush"

They were near the front of the antiwar march downtown yesterday, dozens of parents, siblings and spouses of soldiers, sailors and Marines occupying Iraq. They drew energy from each other, from the exciting discovery that there were so many in the same situation. They traded stories of extended deployments and shaky morale. They carried poster-size pictures of their loved ones standing proudly in dress uniforms, and they raised a banner that said: "Bush Says Bring 'Em On, We Say Bring 'Em Home Now!"

"We're very proud of our son, our daughter-in-law, our niece and nephews and their willingness to support and defend our country," said Alan McLaine, 57, an educational consultant. "But we do not think the U.S. should be at war with Iraq."

"Osama bin Laden is still out there," Marianne D'Amato said. "That's been forgotten. Instead, what does Bush do? He kills thousands of Iraqis. They're picking our troops off. . . . This is an unconstitutional war."

5. It would be nice if the military families and the families of 9/11

could get together and start making demands of this administration. They are two groups who are victims of this administration. Bush would have some 'splain to do to 2 groups who have the highest sympathy from the nation. Bush is the one who used the tragedy of 9/11 to send the troops off to die in Iraq, that connection should be used to bite him in the ass.
