PARLAMAZ Leader Calls to Fight Globalization
Lima, Oct 15 (Prensa Latina) Amazonian Parliament (PARLAMAZ) President Gerardo Saavedra has urged South American congress people to draw up a common development agenda against such globalization challenges as the free trade agreements.

Gerardo Saavedra made his remarks at the international forum "Means to Strengthen Inter-Institutional Relations among Regional Parliaments," held in Lima, Peru, on Sunday. <snip>

PARLAMAZ seeks an international agreement to give the entity legal status to promote talks, mutual cooperation, and integration among the eight Amazonian states, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela, he noted.

Representatives from Central American, Latin American, Indigenous and European parliaments, as well as members the Southern Common Market and international bodies such as the Parliamentary Confederation of the Americas are also attending the forum.
