Wife: Cheney not running for president
By UPI
Oct 17, 2005, 19:00 GMT

WASHINGTON, DC, United States (UPI) -- Lynne Cheney says her husband, Vice President Dick Cheney, has no intention of running for U.S. president.

In an interview with Time Magazine, Mrs. Cheney was asked about speculation by Bob Woodward, author and assistant managing editor at the Washington Post, that her husband would be a candidate in 2008.

...

Mrs. Cheney said even if the president asked him, her husband made it clear when he accepted the vice presidential nomination in 2000 that he had no designs on the top job.

...

Recent revelations that Cheney`s chief of staff, Lewis 'Scooter' Libby, may have leaked the identity of covert CIA employee Valerie Plame to New York Times reporter Judith Miller have revived memories of Cheney`s role in justifying the U.S. invasion of Iraq. The vice president also has some baggage of his own, including worries about his health.

His wife said Cheney is 'doing fine.'

2. No, he'll be running. From the law, I bet.
Unless his lawyers can get him out of his jams. Of course, he may have enough friends on the SCOTUS now to keep him happily retired until someone forgets to recharge the portable defibrillator.

LOL, good to know, thanks Lynne.
It was really looking like Dick was going to be the nominee there, once he got past the numerous looming indictments. So thanks for the heads-up.
