Al-Qaida in Iraq Claims It Downed U.S. Helicopter That Killed Two Marines
The Associated Press

Published: Nov 3, 2005

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Al-Qaida in Iraq on Thursday claimed to have shot down a U.S. attack helicopter that crashed west of Baghdad, killing its two Marine crewmembers.

"Brethren in al-Qaida in Iraq's military wing downed a Super Cobra attack helicopter in Ramadi with a Strella rocket, thanks be to God," the group said in a statement that was posted on an Islamist Web forum often used for its claims.

The authenticity of the statement, which bore the nickname of the group's spokesman, Abu Maysara al-Iraqi, could not be confirmed.

1. We need to get-the-chopper out of that country
I've been up in a few big choppers.
Riding chopper in a war zone would scare the hell out of me:
that is one, big, slow-moving, wobbly, noise maker.
Not for the claustraphobic or those who wish to avoid becoming
a human fireball.

4. If you think riding in a chopper in a war zone is scary....
....just imagine what it's like to be one of the poor saps on the ground getting zapped by the chopper's guns.

2. Which al quida?
The al Quida of SAS posing as Iraqi insurgents?
Or the Israeli MOSSAD Al Quida, or the CIA version.

3. No, it's the Al quida catch all...
When they really haven't a clue who did it, (read: average pissed off Iraqi angry at the occupation, got his hands on a rocket), they blame the Al quida.
