Bush: Latin America has "inaccurate picture" of US foreign policy
BRASILIA, Nov. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- US President George W. Bush said Sunday that Latin America has an "inaccurate picture" of the US foreign policy, which has been facing growing protests in the region.

"Neither the US nor Brazil should stop believing in the universality of democracy and freedom," Bush said in a speech to student leaders during his first ever visit to Brazil.

Hundreds of protestors took to the streets on Sunday, waving flags of Brazil, Cuba, Palestine and Venezuela as a sign of opposition to the US foreign policy.

They also burned a US flag and an effigy of Bush, which was wearing Hitler-style mustache.

According to local reports, an unidentified protestor was arrested as police began to disperse an angry crowd of about 150 at the gates of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's official residence just before Bush's team arrived.

In his speech, Bush said the demonstrations against him in Argentina were "something positive." "What happens in Argentina also happens in the US," he said.

At a breakfast with business leaders earlier in the day, Bush said the United States wanted a "prosperous neighbourhood.">>>snip

3. No, it is his propaganda which portrays it falsely.
The people of Latin America know the history, as do those who care to research the matter in this country.

Every country in Latin America has been brutally messed with multiple times by a greedy and violent US ruling class, a ruling class which is now, as it has been for the past two hundred years, intent upon domination of Latin America for its own benefit, and to the detriment of the inhabitants.

US foreign policy is interested in securing this and nothing else, and opposing it is the only decent course of action.

11. You are 'damn tootin'
right on!
Add that their ruling classes have sent their money gained off the backs of their people to U$ and $wiss banks, 200,000 Guatemalan Indians killed during the Iran-Contra crimes, not to go back to Haiti (first to try democracy after the U$, Cuba got rid of the Spanards and got the U$ in exchange, Guatemala in 1956 got the U$ instead of democracy, etc.

13. This is the "president" who destabilized the legitimately elected
government in Haiti, and replaced it with the gang of brutal thugs who had massacred thousands when they had power earlier.

And they seem to be aiming at doing the same thing now.

It is long past time for the US to get out of Latin America, and let the people of Latin America choose their own fates, independent of US domination.

6. Welcome to the" neighborhood".. I feel the same way
He also said “Wow! Brazil is big,”

At one point, Mr. da Silva even exhibited a map of his country, which is larger than the continental United States. “Wow! Brazil is big,” Mr. Amorim quoted the American president as responding. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/11/07/international/07prexy.ready.html

here is what one blogger said about him:
<snip>
As Argentinian President Kirchner gave an incisive opening address at the Summit of the Americas, Bush rose to the occasion with his antics. The incurious and unread President smiled broadly when Kirchner said the word, Bible (although he was referring to plagues and catastrophe), but pouted and tapped his translation earpiece when Kirchner quoted Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

8. "Either you're with us or against us" isn't difficult to understand. They
get it. They know the history of US supported coups and destabilization efforts against democratically elected governments. They get it all too well.

14. Latin America has experienced FIRST HAND American foreign policy
From the right-wing, poverty-perpetuating American puppet leaders to the cocoa bean farmers who have their crops destroyed every year by the War on Drugs, I'd say Latin America has a pretty good idea of the United States foreign policy

relying only on your staff for news, you might realize that you are the one with the inaccurate picture of foreign policy, the rest of the world has a crystal clear picture of our foreign policy.
