DENVER -- A group that advocates for religious expression wants to intervene in a lawsuit that claims senior officers and cadets at the Air Force Academy illegally imposed Christianity on others at the school.
The Alliance Defense Fund said Tuesday the case could infringe on religious freedom in the military.
The group said it was acting on behalf of a pilot and a chaplain and hoped to persuade a judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Mikey Weinstein, a former Air Force officer and Air Force Academy graduate.
Weinstein's suit seeks to prohibit Air Force members from evangelizing, proselytizing or trying "to involuntarily convert, pressure, exhort or persuade a fellow member of the USAF to accept their own religious beliefs while on duty."
