State Supreme Court Upholds I-776

UPDATED: 8:44 AM PST October 30, 2003

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The state Supreme Court has upheld Initiative 776 -- the $30 vehicle license tab measure approved last November by voters.

The decision was 6 to 3.

I-776 repeals $15 road fees in King, Pierce, Snohomish and Douglas Counties. It also repeals $700 million worth of car taxes that go to Sound Transit's light rail.

Now we'll never build any new roads, or fix the ones we have, or get any decent mass transit. The banana republic of Washington.

2. what does this mean
Our tabs expire in november--we just got a bill for $150 (even though adding up the figures, we only came to $120 due...)...but we've got to get our tabs soon---do we pay the $150/$120 on our bill, or the 'new' old amount?
