Police split over Sharon role in scandal
Jerusalem - Israeli police are split over whether to recommend indicting Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in a political funding scandal, a major newspaper which has broken key developments in the case said on Friday.

Police investigators questioned the right-wing former general for seven hours at his official residence on Thursday over the so-called "Greek island affair", one of two funding scandals dogging him.

The affair revolves around what police believe was a bid by a developer with Likud connections to buy a Greek resort island with Sharon's help when he was foreign minister, by employing his son Gilad and donating to his campaign chest.
