US loses two more soldiers as Baghdad shudders under new terror alert
BAGHDAD (AFP) - Two US soldiers were killed as Iraq (news - web sites) braced for fresh violence and rumours of a bloody "day of resistance" half-paralysed Baghdad, exactly six months after President George W. Bush (news - web sites) declared major fighting over.

The growing carnage in Iraq and its impact on regional stability were to be the main topic at a meeting in Damascus of Iraq's neighbours scheduled for Saturday evening, but Iraq's interim foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari said he would not attend because he was not "properly invited" by Syria.

The US military said two soldiers were killed and two others wounded when a bomb went off in Mosul, 370 kilometers (230 miles) north of Baghdad.

"Two 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) soldiers were killed and two were wounded in an improvised explosive device attack," the division said in a statement.

from a related article at Aljazeera....
http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/2BECA24B-A0EA-4B1C-9068-3D0A321676B1.htm

<snip>
The explosion, the latest to target occupation forces, was detonated as a convoy of US vehicles drove past.

A traffic policeman and another witness said the Americans were travelling in civilian clothes in two unmarked vehicles, which were both damaged by two simultaneous blasts at a main square in the city centre.

....civilian clothes and unmarked vehicles. Hmmmmm
