"We Do Have a Plan" (Iraq - Lieberman)
http://www.courant.com/news/nationworld/hc-iraq1129.artnov29,0,7759941.story?coll=hc-big-headlines-breaking

Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, just back from Iraq, wants President Bush to give the American people details about the progress being made in that country - from military triumphs to the proliferation of cellphones and satellite dishes.

<snip>

But Lieberman, D-Conn., who spent Wednesday and Thursday in Iraq, saw strong evidence that a workable American plan is in place.

"We do have a strategy," he said. "We do have a plan. I saw a strategy that's being implemented."

...

Yah! He's my Senator now! :sarcasm:

1. Hey Joe, is the plan to let them kill each other until there's no one
left? Or is it for us to bomb them into oblivion until the place is a deserted wasteland? Because those are the only plans I see being 'implemented' there.

47. Very close.
The plan is to kill off enough militants and dissidants so that the US armed and trained neo-colonial regime can more or less control the country.

Although I'm sure in Lieberman's fevered brain this somehow means peace and stability.

Better to have a Republican in his seat- let Joe take a full time job with Fox "news."

45. Unfortunately, it wouldn't work
he's still too popular here.

I don't get it. I don't understand him on this issue. How can someone NOT see this? How can he do this?

I know people who used to work for him. They admired him. They admired his stand on civil rights and the environment -- things that go way back before his senate days.

But what the heck happened? How can he allow himself to be nothing but a tool for the Bush war machine?

presence in the ME, and nothing more for Liebershitz. I can't blame Israel for wanting a big bully presence at their back door, so draft-dodger Liebershitz should just be honest about his intentions for BSing us about Iraq.

Yes, Joe--it's so wonderful that more Iraqis have "cell phones" and "satellite dishes." They fear for their lives when they go to the market--but at least they'll have a cell phone when they're blown to bits!

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS MAN??????????

He is blatantly propagandizing for this administration--and I want to know why. He came back from Dante's Inferno--and put a flowery glow on it. He lied. I want to know why.

Did Joe act this way before Gore endorsed Kerry?

Even the airplay he gets on cable TV sounds a lot litke Charlie Brown's teacher, and the talking heads, when they deign to refer to him, mostly just ignore him and keep going. No one I know, left or right, cares in the slightest what he has to say.

Hey, Lieberman: pick an issue and fight for it.

43. It does not matter if the war is not real
"It does not matter if the war is not real, or when it is, victory is not possible. The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continous, the essential act of modern warfare is the destruction of the produce of human labor. A hierarchal society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance. The war is waged by the ruling group against its subjects, and its object is not victory, but to keep the very structure of society intact."

46. Leiberman is incoherent; what plan is he talking about?
Is it written down somewhere? Did GB show him a copy that somehow Murtha didn't get to see? Does Lieberman have better information about events in Iraq than Murtha? Better communications with the military? I doubt it. I suspect the real issue is that Leiberman has adopted the PNAC view that taking out Saddam and having US Military in Iraq is good for Israel and will say anything to prolong their presence. Whatever Lieberman's rationale, his view that "we do have a plan" is not only wrong, its not even coherent.

Satellite dishes that bring Al-Jazeera onto homes with the REAL news about all that soul-winning going on, since I just heard today that Iraqi papers have articles "written" by US soldiers that are actually coming from a PR contractor (we don't even manufacture our own bullshit Astroturf any more?)and Cellies to co-ordinate the Resistance.

Oh, this guy makes me want to puke!!I couldn't believe it when he was selected as Gore's running mate...this guy has such a conflict of interest, it's not even funny! He's all about protecting Israel!
( and NO, I'm not anti-semitic, I just don't necessarily trust the Israelis..we give them BILLIONS every year, and yet they send people to spy on us...?????)

He was so FOR the war it made me break out in hives..he was virtually salivating at the thought of America going over there and being a big brother presence for Israel.

Let me once again affirm that I have nothing against the Jewish faith, or the average Israeli citizen, but I believe that charity begins at home...and those billion that we send over there could be making a real dent in rebuilding New Orleans
