El Paso Times: President Bush's quick stop will focus on border security
Louie Gilot
Tuesday, November 29, 2005

President Bush's visit to El Paso today is likely to center on immigration issues and border security, officials said.

"It's going to be a quick stop. It has to do with border security," said Michael Moore, chairman of the El Paso County Republican Party.

Bush is scheduled to land in El Paso at the NASA Hangar on Boeing Drive at 8:55 a.m. Bush will get into his motorcade and tour the border, officials said. Details on his route were not released by White House officials for security reasons. Bush is expected to make some short remarks and leave at 10:15 a.m. on Air Force One for Denver.

Bush also is expected to honor Dale Baugh, who will receive the President's Volunteer Award for his work with the El Paso Police Department's Citizens Police Academy and Sex Offender and Tracking Unit. Baugh updates and maintains the computerized sex offender database.

The El Paso visit, which is not open to the public, is part of a two-day trip focusing on border security and immigration issues that started Monday with a visit to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Ariz. Bush then flew to Phoenix to attend a fundraiser for Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz....

2. Touring the border from his motorcade?
What does that entail, exactly? Driving up to the bridge and reviewing all the people coming through legally?

Say, didn't he once LIVE in Texas? Hasn't he seen the border crossing before?

God, it's make work, and not hard work either, to keep Commander Cuckoobanannas busy.

4. I don't think he's going to the Juarez crossing -- there are unscreened...
Americans there. I think he's going to a more remote location, but his itinerary is unclear.

7. Next, they build a Wall. And Repugs took credit for tearing down Wall
in Berlin.
Isn't it ironic ow the location of a Wall, and the people who build it, "flavor" its perception in the World.

Bush stops at Border Highway

El Paso Times - Updated: 9:46 a.m.

President Bush, who is on a two-day trip emphasizing border security and immigration matters, arrived in El Paso today and stopped at a Border Highway overpass after taking a short driving tour along the border.

Bush arrived on Air Force One and was met at the El Paso International Airport by Gov. Rick Perry and other local leaders. After honoring an El Pasoan with the President's Volunteer Award, the president left in his motorcade, got on Interstate 10 at Hawkins and exited I-10 at Executive Center. Parts of I-10 were closed for the president.

The motorcade drove along a levee of the Rio Grande before stopping at the overpass.

Bush was accompanied by Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales....

16. Appeasement.
In a word.
Everything else is spinning out of control so now he is going to ignore everything else and hope everyone else does too.
Nothing like a good fight on immigration.
Happens here as well. It is a great wedge issue.
