4. Troops do not equate soldiers

They are not the same and the terms are not interchangeable.

This was brought to my attention when I called my young marine nephew a soldier. He said quite firmly that he was not a soldier, he was a marine. Each military branch has a name for its members. A soldier solely belongs to the Army, etc.

I make this point only in respect to my young marine nephew who is now serving his second Iraq tour.
