Gov may nudge Pirro out of (NY Senate) race
Edited on Fri Dec-02-05 07:11 AM by brooklynite
Gov. Pataki plans to meet with Jeanine Pirro today, and sources say the agenda will be whether she should drop her flagging bid to topple Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Plans for the extraordinary sitdown follow state Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno's public call for Pirro to nix the campaign against the popular, well-financed incumbent and aim instead for the state attorney general's office.

The one-two punch of the state's most powerful pair of Republicans could leave Pirro, the Westchester County district attorney, with little choice but to change course, observers said.

"There is no way she can stay in this now, and it's just a matter of time before she switches her candidacy to the attorney general's race," said a GOP source.

This will likely shift the Senate race to John Spencer, former mayor of Yonkers. He'll run as a "real" conservative, resulting in Hillary racking up an even high vote count.

1. Pirro has left a mark they'll be shooting at for a long time
There was the 12 minute silence caused by the missing page of her announcement speech...

Her attempt to portray herself as a "crime fighter" despite her husband's mob ties and felony conviction for fraud and bribery....

There was the public discovery of her husband's love child...

There was her claim that Democrats are child molesters...

There was her claim that Hillary was soft on terrorism...

The final straw might have been her throwing out a freeper slur the other day against Senator Robert Byrd (whom Pataki and the state GOP have hailed for his efforts in helping New York recover from 9/11)

5. C'mon Pirro...Stay in!!
Money spent by Repukes trying to defeat/smear Hillary is money they won't have in other races.

Maybe Liddy Dole is having cash-flow problems. HA HA!

6. Attaboy Jeanine! (Pirro says she is staying in race against Clinton)
Jeanine Pirro declared Friday that she is continuing her race against Sen. Hillary Clinton despite pressure from some Republicans that she should abandon the campaign.

“I said from the beginning I am running for the United States Senate. I am a candidate for the United States Senate,” Ms. Pirro said after a two-hour meeting with Gov. George Pataki in Manhattan, the Associated Press reported.

7. The idea appears
to be to have run run for NYS AG. She has been a shocikingly terrible candidate, and I am hoping that she will enter as many races as possible. Spencer's people realize that he has no chance in the 2006 race, but want to have him register some damaging hits on Senator Clinton in advance of 2008.
