‘Taliban’ note on jet forces emergency landing
No one detained or arrested as Phoenix-to-Boston flight interrupted

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - An America West Airbus jet made an emergency landing at Kansas City International Airport after someone left a note in the plane’s bathroom that said: “Taliban is Here.”

The plane was flying from Phoenix to Boston Thursday when a passenger saw the note, KCI spokesman Joe McBride said.

The passenger notified the flight crew and the pilot landed the plane at KCI about 1:30 p.m., authorities said.

The FBI, airport police and the Transportation Security Administration responded and police dogs searched the plane. No one was detained or arrested, McBride said.

1. sounds like a stupid joke
hope the bozo who wrote it "for laughs" had an important meeting that he missed because of the delay in getting to Boston.

2. So now all it takes is an anonymous note....
to disrupt air travel? It's not even a specific threat. It doesn't make any demands. Am I missing something?

This just seems wrong to me to be so spooked. It shows a lack of confidence in all the airport security procedures in place.

4. In a related story, DHS Chief Michael Chertoff...
has broadened the Patriot Act to outlaw the use of paper on commercial airlines.

6. The terrorists have won, no?
If this is all that it takes to scare Americans into submission, then the terrorists have probably won.

7. probably?
It is amazing to think that 3 words on a piece of paper can bring a plane down.

Is this an indication of how safe the airline industry feels with it's security systems??
If so, the terrorists have certainly won.
