13. Pile 'em high!
Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Mossoul and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.

Carl Sandburg

3. Avg age 22.3 years- all enlisted men, no officers.
My youngest son is older than that.

Reminds me of my situation 35 years ago.

My heart goes out to these young men's families.

4. CNN just showed video of the killing
Headline News just showed video of the troops walking beside a tank that suddenly blows up. I wonder how many news outlets will show this video.

7. Good for CNN...
this is a virtual war to most of the nation. It will take the sheer horror of war to shake people up...especially since their children aren't fighting it.
Bless these boys' families.I hope they find peace.

10. "the restive Anbar province"
Funny word.

A Poem That I Wrote In A High Fever

You who are lengthening your lives
with the best doctors and the best medicines
remember those who are shortening their lives
with the wars
that you in your long lives are not
preventing.

You who are again screwing
the younger generations
and winking at each other
the winking of your eyelids
is like the chill of the swinging shutters
in an empty house.

What a waste of young lives, and for nothing.

Meantime back in DC Mr. and Mrs. Chimp are gearing up for Christmas festivities in a White House festooned with flowers. Think they'll give a second's thought to these young men and their families as they mingle with the big donors at lavish parties?

Incomprehensible how military families can continue to support these scum-of-the-earth, lowlife criminals who've highjacked the country and are responsible for such terrible death and destruction.

15. 7 out of the 10 are from the Great Lakes States, MI,MN,WI & Ill
I'm tired of seeing the flag at half staff every other day, as ordered by our Governor, Jennifer Granholm.

This is not the heartland of the US, this is the once great industrial area of the country. It is now in free fall..

It is now the area with the highest unemployment rate, the area with the worst declining jobs for the middle class. No health care, no pensions, no future, no retirement benefits.

But I digress, every soldier killed is someone loved by his family and his neighbors. I am sorry for each one of their deaths, no matter what part of the country they come from.

17. i think it's way past time to get our troops out of iraq
if the iraqis value their country and democracy let them take over..or lets try to get a REAL coalition to help with the rebuiding and defense of the iraqis.

we've bitten off more than we can chew and we can't lose more young americans.
