4. Hmm. Privately owned T-33. There are very few of those, I know one guy |
|
who has one. Yikes. But (I posted about this earlier) it says "wounded" one person. That just sounds really weird to me.

5. Too bad. I like "war birds" when flown responsibly. |
|
However, I do kind of agree with the FAA's ejection seat limitations.
BTW: I was at my brother-in-laws outdoor wedding in Greenville, SC, this afternoon. During the outdoor reception we were treated by several fly-overs by a B-17. Must have been an airshow at Greenville Downtown Airport.

6. Hi Mac, haven't seen you lately...yeah, I do too. Bob Walker let me fly |
|
his P-51D once back in ...66/67? He thought it was a fair trade for me letting him fly my PT22. ROFL. A really nice guy, he passed away a couple months ago. QB.

7. One of our pilots had to bail-out of his P-51 a few years back. |
|
Too, bad. He owed me a long ride in it for getting him a primo room at the Farnborough Air Show in 1990 when he showed up at Gatwick thinking he could find a Motel-6 in Farnborough during show week. I was editor of Pro Pilot at the time, and had control of a pre-paid room (with meals) in the best hotel there. One of our writers had a last minute family emergency and the room was going to go empty. I got Jeff into the room, and that night after a wonderful meal (for Brit standards) in the hotel dining room, over a good Port with Cubano Monte Cristos, he not only promised me a ride in his P-51 ... he promised me dual with a few landings!
Bwaa-bwaa-bwaa! At least neither Jeff nor anyone on the ground was hurt in the bail-out mishap.
