Two Words on a Banner That No Author Wants to Claim
This is a good synopsis of this weeks tap dance but the fun factoid is here:

snip>

Meanwhile, Republicans said that it was increasingly unlikely that Mr. Bush would use the film of his "Top Gun" landing on the carrier in a campaign commercial.

But would the Democrats consider using it in an attack ad?

"Yes," said Jim Margolis of GMMB, who is making television commercials for the presidential campaign of Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts.

1. My letter to NYTimes:
letters@nytimes.com
Subject: Two words on a banner that no one wants to claim

I applaud the fact that Elisabeth Bumilier actually did some investigating reporting in trying to find out who on the Lincon carrier came up with the "Mission Accomplished" wording.
Sadly she looked in all the wrong places.
According to this article in Washington Post, the message was concocted by the White House - with pride at the time. So, in short: they lied! (I know your editorial policy forbids these words, but they lied). The quote follows:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&node=&contentId=A10976-2003May3

"Still, it's also impossible to agree with the banner that was draped near Mr. Bush on the carrier deck, proclaiming "Mission Accomplished." Aides say the slogan was chosen in part to mark a presidential turn toward domestic affairs as his campaign for reelection approaches ..."

9. Unfortunately, US tax dollars...
...to the tune of $1 million, from reports last spring, DID go to help produce that image.

The eternal question under the reign of Shrub: Where is the outrage?

11. He and Traitor Liddy
Tweety should have known his judgement was severely impaired when he found himself agreeing with G. Gordon Liddy, Watergate Burglar and Traitor, on the air.

13. DeepModem Mom loves Tweety jokes....
and, Mari333, that's one of the best!

(My fear is that, according to recent D.U. speculation, Tweety may be raising the flag for one of our fine candidates, Dr. Dean.)

18. GE may be putting saltpeter in Tweety's food after this speech
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=35378

I know, I know, it's World Dreck Daily, but it's interesting that after all the cheerleading by Tweets, he's had an epiphiny? They don't say what university he spoke at or when, but the article is an interesting read. On top of that, on the RushBlows show today, the cardboard host/replacement is now mouthing that the criticisms of the Iraq war are aiding and abeting the enemy. Here comes 1984 folks, and this weeks talking point by the RepuklikanNominalConjob (RNC).

<snip>
In a speech to university students, MSNBC host Chris Matthews characterized President Bush as a shallow-thinking, unlearned man who when confronted by aides with the decision about going to war with Iraq was given something to think about for the first time in his life.

The Bush administration's rationale for the Iraq war was "nonsense" and totally dishonest, Matthews told a gathering of 200 students at Brown University this week, according to the Woonsocket Call newspaper in Rhode Island.

Vice President Richard Cheney was "behind it all," contended Matthews, who served as an aide to the late House Speaker Tip O'Neill of Massachusetts and wrote speeches for former President Jimmy Carter.

Sources tell WND that management at MSNBC are becoming increasingly perturbed at Matthews for his outspoken criticism of Bush.

<snip>

they distort, you decide.

10. Yup, the end result of the sweetest eclair
It all turns to the same shit in the end. Now that the turd is stinking to high heaven, the "personal responsibility" Republicans are running from it like the cowards they are.
