Israeli Jets Swoop on Lebanon, Draw Hizbollah Fire

. . Israeli Jets Swoop on Lebanon, Draw Hizbollah Fire
Mon November 3, 2003 09:34 AM ET

TYRE (Reuters) - Israeli warplanes roared over southern Lebanon Monday, drawing anti-aircraft fire from Lebanese Hizbollah guerrillas over the town of Bint Jbeil, the Iranian and Syrian-backed group said.

Witnesses said two Israeli jets swooped over the southern seaside town of Naqoura and continued north over Tyre. Hizbollah said it opened fire on the planes over Bint Jbeil. No planes were reported hit.

The overflights came less than two weeks after the United Nations warned Israel for the second time in a month to stop flying its jets over Lebanon, saying the flights and resulting anti-aircraft fire were "not conducive" to stability.

Tensions on the U.N.-drawn frontier, known as the Blue Line, have been high since Israel last month bombed what it said was a training camp for militants in neighboring Syria, which has broad influence in Lebanon.

Hmmm - checking out the defences for a Syrian Pre-emptive ??

Do I smell the BFEE in this, ??

Is that what you would have said if the Russians had flown over Chicago in 1963???

9. LOL @ facts in the air....how true...
Gotta love the Israeli army under Sharon's command...

Let's flood the U.S. with Mossad before Sept. 11

Let's bomb Lebanon

Let's build a giant wall around the Palestinians

Let's build more settlements

Let's arm the settlers

4. On purpose.
That`s what I think. They are trying to draw them into an attack, Then chimpie would say we have to help and defend Isreal. The perfect excuse since they want to go after Syria anyway.

8. Don't think they won't have some pretty well armed subs in the Gulf

. . and the Mediterranean, with nukes to boot.

. . and what makes you think the BFEE gives a shit about the loss of "troops" that are already in Afghanistan and Iraq?

civilians are "collateral damage" to the BFEE

you think Juniour and Gang can't extrapolate that idea to the troops?

Something to think about

Just My Humble Canadian Opinion

10. Not the first time
This is almost SOP for Israel - wag the stick, and draw some fire to find out where the Hizbollah anti-aircraft guns are. Breaking the sound barrier above Beirut included.
