6. Yeah. It's nearly as good as 'The Hobbit'
Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 05:20 PM by Screaming Lord Byron
and that's saying something

Just kidding, Clark seems to be a Christian of the deed, as well as the word. That's good in my book.

7. I'm an atheist
and I've read the Bible front to back, back to front and sideways. It's all bullshit, but I read it. Just because he reads it doesn't mean he buys into it all like Chimp boy does.

10. True, PurpHaze. But
But it bothers me that he saw fit to mention it. I know I may be jumping to conclusions, but I'm also an atheist, and the conclusion I always jump to when a politician says something like this is that he's spineless and feels he has to pander to the current public obseqiousness to religiosity.

Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 05:24 PM by Zynx
what? He's a religous man? Oh the horror!

Why is this an issue? I read the bible from time to time(I've read the whole thing several times) and I am a good practicing Christian. Does someone here have a problem with that?

13. The bible is quite a fun and interesting book to read
I am an agnostic, and I find it quite a good read, from time to time, i like to invision people who say we should read the bible literally. Like slaughtering a couple birds when a women gives birth, Ive never seen that option in a hospital.

15. Sounds like a fair statement to me
Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 05:34 PM by lunabush
He is on a live web chat, he makes a statement of a book he likes to read. Not like a press conference that he called to make the point. It was chatty. I think ya gotta work hard to get worked up about that.

If I read popular mechanics then am I a mechanic? If Bush* read the dictionary, does that make him a dick? (uh, that isn't helpful to my argument, is it?) Of course he is, and they do have pictonaries these days to help him with the big words.

I heard Bush reads the Scottish Rite bible which is a far cry from St.James version

23. In my opinion, very few church goers actually believe in GOD
I put myself out on a limb but what's life if you can't tell the truth?

I've had so many friends from all faiths and I actually think they believe out of fear
for being damned for enternity and not out of goodness is a why to live life. I've seen
many many unjust things done by religious people who seem to believe the slate is wiped
clean after Sunday.

In respect to politicians, I don't believe more than 2% believe in God/Religion. They are
just acting the part because our current media/campaign society cannot accept a person who
doesn't believe in God. You're an immoral person if you don't believe in God.
(But you're are moral if you murder 40,000 Muslims.)
