Recall rattles political nerves
Fearing voters' wrath, majority Democrats say they're ready to play ball with the new governor.

As Arnold Schwarzenegger prepares to move into the governor's office, Democrats like state Sen. Mike Machado and Assemblywoman Gloria Negrete-McLeod are rolling out the welcome mat.
The election of a Republican governor has had a sobering effect on Democrats who fear that after recalling Gov. Gray Davis, voters will turn their wrath on them.

Bucking Schwarzenegger, who will use his star power to raise money for GOP candidates, holds particular peril for lawmakers like Machado and Negrete-McLeod, who represent moderate districts.
So does legislation like SB 60, the bill Davis signed to let illegal immigrants obtain California driver's licenses but which Schwarzenegger has pledged to repeal.

Machado and Negrete-McLeod, citing the governor-elect's opposition, no longer support the measure they voted for.

1. Yeah, that's the ticket
Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 09:39 PM by PartyPooper
to nowhere!

I'm sure some of the Dems in Sacramento will 'play ball' with Arnold...so as not to 'piss off' some of their constituents...just like many Dems in Congress have done with Junior since 2000!

Instead, they should worry about the wrath of the folks who voted them in in the first place! Cuz, if they 'play nice' with the Gropenator...many of us WILL vote their asses out at the first opportunity. Guaranteed!

3. Fear and Loathing in Sacramento
We are pretty much screwed for the duration, folks..

Arnie will be a one termer.. the next 3 yrs will be used to demoralize and demonize Dems, while they "groom" their next governor....

Look for the Bushster to be here A LOT during the next year.. Money will flow into Kelli-fornya, and Ahhhnold will take credit.. The public will be ever-so-subtly warned, that if they want the good times to continue, they better "play ball".. That means Dem=Bad..repube= Good.. They have 3 yeras to complete their task..

Bank on it..

Bustamante shot his wad, and came out looking like an opportunist with little or no personality, so he's done..

Who do we have waiting in the wings??? Feinstein?? Okay, but then we lose her voice in the senate.. Arnie will probably run for senate at the next opportunity.... Once he tastes "power", he will not stop at Scaramento.. He's a valuable tool for the repubes, and they know it..

I look for Dreier to run.. or that piece of work, Brulte..

Who DO we have?? The celebs we have are not particularly charismatic, and why on earth do we even NEED a celeb?? But... who IS there???

You know, the fellow who plays the prez.

Maybe, just maybe, we could get him to run for governor. No?

6. Martin Sheen..
The politicians who are Dems, do not seem to be interested in being relentlessly trashed ... Can we blame them>> The only ones who seem to be eager to run are the repubes,...probably because they know they will have a free ride with the media

17. You want a guy with no personality?
That fits Gray Davis to a T. He managed to get elected not because the voters liked him, but becasue he was lucky to be running against opponents that the voters disliked even more. That luck ran out this year.

Scream from the rooftops about Arnold's relationship with Ken Lay and the rest of the energy traders who stole 9 BILLION from our prosperous state. Get in Arnold's face about pursuing the lawsuit to get the stolen money back.

But they are part of the rich elites that are fucking our country over so this simply would not be what they want, would it?

Again, a RW rag is telling us what to feel and think and we fall for it.

11. Where Has Kissing Bush's Butt Gotten Democrats?!
Now they kiss Arnold's? With Democrats like that we will never get America back. Bush and his pals can never lose the elections as long as the Republican manufactured and programmed voting machines exists! Where is the outrage by our Democrats?!

12. There is no Democratic Party
While the RNC is having television shows cancelled and overturning legal elections, the Democrats aren't even willing to fight for what is right in a state where they are the huge majority.

The Democratic Party is broken, maybe beyond repair.

14. The current batch of elected dems will never learn
Edited on Tue Nov-04-03 06:24 AM by Democat
They don't have any fight in them.

They need to be replaced.

Look what the Republicans did with the Gingrich revolution. They cleaned house and taught their own party that if you don't fight, you will be fired.

When will we teach our own losers the same thing?

Where is our Gingrich?

18. It's true, Democat. Democrats are demeaned and demoralized.
Look at Bob Graham. He got nowhere in the primaries. So what does he do? Quits. He runs away and feels sorry for himself. Look at Al Gore. Wasn't he the one that promised to keep on "fighting for the people"? There's no pleasure in trashing those who are supposed to be on your side but the sooner we get rid of the Davises and and the Grahams and the Daschles and the Millers the better.

16. Ask yourself: What would it take for you to admit the system was broken?
More to the point, that the system was far too broken to repair itself? That the very mechanisms by which repairs could be made were tainted beyond repair?

And what would you do with that understanding?
