Fitzgerald to present more information to jury Wednesday

Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will present additional evidence to a grand jury Wednesday morning in the CIA leak case that could result in an indictment being handed up against White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove, sources close to the investigation told RAW STORY.

Although the grand jury’s term expires in 18 months, Fitzgerald is expected to wrap up the case as it relates to Rove before the end of the year, the sources said.

Fitzgerald intends to present the grand jury with the sworn testimony from Rove’s attorney Robert Luskin, and Time magazine reporter Viveca Novak. The sources close to the case said Fitzgerald is still intent on seeking an indictment against Rove on at least one count of making false statements to FBI and Justice Department investigators when he was first interviewed in early October 2003 about his role in the leak.

...

A week ago, Fitzgerald briefed the second grand jury hearing evidence in the leak case for more than three hours. During that time, he brought them up to speed on the latest developments involving Rove and at least one other White House official, the sources said. The attorneys refused to identify the second person.

2. If Rove is indicted, he can never work in the White House again
Forget about whether or not he is convicted. If he is indicted, he becomes poisonous. He can't so much as ask Bush how the weather is anymore. All conversations became legally dangerous. Bush can't so much as put on his pants without Karl Rove being there to help him. One of the reasons for Bush's Katrina fuck up was that Rove was in the hospital getting treated for kidney stones. Rove missed a lot meetings for a few days. Bush was like a deer looking at lights at night without Rove there to burp him.

33. Bummer.
You're right, of course, but that's presuming that these people would ever tell the truth. If he's indicted, he'll still be helping Junior on a constant basis, and they'll just cover it up and go through different channels.

I just want to see this creep humiliated; he's a deplorable human being and the very soul of the win-at-any-cost thug. With any luck, he'll snivel in public like DeLay.

...one bulletproof indictment against Rove is well worth the time to get there, don't you think? And once Rove is indicted, don't you think he'll start singing like a canary to keep his butt out of prison?

One step at a time...Fitz knows exactly what he's doing.

There's nothing like Rove for the Holidays! What a "Holiday" present that would be, a pig on a spit. KKKarl Rove with an apple in his mouth roasting over an open fire. KKKarl's stay in prison? I'm sure he'll be shuffled off to some "country club" detention center, but it would be great of he got to meet the REAL prison population. A nice, soft, porcine guy like KKKarl would probably draw a lot of attention, don't you think?
I sincerely hope KKKarl likes tossed salad because he may be getting a steady diet of it in prison. ;)

It seems to me that since the GJ was brought up to speed on the case a week ago, it is likely that the meeting this week, today, would be looking for indictments (reading between the lines, of course).

23. Here's some FUN for the Holidays while watching Rove Frog March!
Decorate YOUR FITZMAS TREE - an Interactive Animation, my Best Yet!

MERRY FITZMAS! I wanted a Damn Fitzmas Tree ever since I heard the term invented RIGHT HERE, and NOW by god I have one, and you can too..

I have labored long and hard on this Interactive Animation (Flash - you may need the most recent flash plugin on your system - at least 6 I think, here's the Macromedia link for player/plugins: http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/#players ) - WHERE YOU can actually DECORATE YOUR OWN FITZMAS TREE, by dragging and dropping Ornaments and dropping them on the FITZMAS TREE - if an Ornament sticks to your "hand" it may be because of the slimy people encased within, just give it another mouse click on the tree to shake it off

There are two Flashes that interact with each other - one is the Fitzmas Tree itself, with a box FULL of decorations, the decorations being the Subjects of Indictments, Investigations, etc - something your Right Wing brother-in-law might be interested in knowing, lots of fun facts

If you click (click all over the page, lots of surprises on it) on the TITLE's of the Flashes you can go between the Tree itself, and another Flash that will load up with all the Decorations and an explanation of WHO they are, and WHAT they did.. for folks that don't know much about the Plame Outing they can get educated on the Ornaments and then click on back to the Tree and Decorate the Hell out of it

Here's two links, the first goes to the Fitzmas Tree itself, but like I said, you can click to the other Flash for more info, or a pal can get more info and Trim the Tree after.. Try this one First:

http://www.tbtmradio.com/flash/merryfitzmas.swf

or you can check out the Ornaments (but maybe miss some surprises where the Presents are) at This Link:

http://www.tbtmradio.com/flash/merryfitzmasornaments.swf

In case you're wondering what that building is in the background, it's the HAGUE, I thought it rather appropriate - and the guys in ORANGE, well, I think you'll recognize them

So ENJOY if you will, and do me a favor, keep this KICKED Please - a labor of love, but no sleep for about Three days either.. Pass it around to anyone you think might be interested, but Please also come back here and Let me Know what YOU think of this work, I scrambled brains doing this

And don't forget to open the presents under the FITZMAS TREE, I wrapped them special just for YOU..

52. I would like to see what you mean by people getting wrong ideas
I could have sworn that Raw Story said it was going to be TODAY, Wednesday. Not Manana, Now.

SO what do you mean about the Wrong Ideas?

Maybe Raw Story was Wrong, and I've seen that before, quite a few times to be honest. (I'll take the time to do the research if you want, lay out a Teaser timeline if needed. Because it's looking like it needs to be done, and I usually do a pretty good job when I set my mind to it.)

Don't you think it would have been safer to say "This Week"?

If Raw Story is employing torture I can tell you that it usually results in error, being tortured with teasers will cause the tortured to give false information just to get you to stop. :)

Really, WE, *WE* are getting the "WRONG IDEAS"? (Let's see, SOMEBODY ELSE POSTED THAT HERE, NOT RAW STORY, and THAT person was engaging in conjecture and speculation. NOT associated with Raw Story..)

C'mon friend. Admit mistakes, you'll be bigger for it. I've said publicly (since I made a film about this and researched over a year "Rove's War") repeatedly that ROVE WILL BE INDICTED. And I stand by that statement. I know politics and can gauge trends.

I've also said that Grass will grow (but not any specific date), that the polar shelves will melt (eventually), and that the sun will Novae between 3 and 10 BILLION Years.. and you know what? It HAS or WILL come true. Takebackthemedia.com has learned that after 2008 Bush will no longer be pResident, should I be more specific as the time grows nearer or just let you google it?

Did you PULL your story already? Down the Rabbit Hole with it? Never Happened?

I don't mean to sound like a turd, but I'm getting a little tired of this.

Let's hear it.

Hunger Strike at the Gates of Guantánamo: Marchers against torture pledge five-day fast if denied entry
by Jessica Bennett, Village Voice December 12th, 2005 8:14 AM

=What will it take to stop these horrors? When will this country demand, with one voice, that torture and atrocities committed by the US stop, and stop, now, today?

*For the benefit of the rightwingers amongst us, who assume that those of us opposed to Bush/Iraq hate the military and think all soldiers are sadistic beasts, I don't believe the majority of American soldiers behave like the Abu Ghraib torturers. Obviously.

But I do believe that soldiers must follow orders from their higher ups and are often in no position to question what may be morally questionable orders. The sadistic beasts are the ones who condoned and ordered atrocities, not the soldiers who have been placed in an untenable position and cannot refuse without risking court martial or perhaps even summary execution.

Is Crucifixion Legal Under Bush And Cheney?

Jane Mayer, who along with Jill Abramson wrote Strange Justice, a definitive account of how Anita Hill was smeared and ridiculed during the Clarence Thomas hearing, has written a searing account of the death of a prisoner in Iraq. Jamadi’s bruises, said, were no doubt painful, but they were not life-threatening. Baden went on, “He also had injuries to his ribs. You don’t die from broken ribs. But if he had been hung up in this way and had broken ribs, that’s different.” In his judgment, “asphyxia is what he died from—as in a crucifixion.”

As in a crucifixion. At the hands of Americans.

And it may not be against the law anymore:

The Bush Administration has resisted disclosing the contents of two Justice Department memos that established a detailed interrogation policy for the Pentagon and the C.I.A. A March, 2003, classified memo was “breathtaking,” the same source said. The document dismissed virtually all national and international laws regulating the treatment of prisoners, including war-crimes and assault statutes, and it was radical in its view that in wartime the President can fight enemies by whatever means he sees fit.

According to the memo, Congress has no constitutional right to interfere with the President in his role as Commander-in-Chief, including making laws that limit the ways in which prisoners may be interrogated. Another classified Justice Department memo, issued in August, 2002, is said to authorize numerous “enhanced” interrogation techniques for the C.I.A. These two memos sanction such extreme measures that, even if the agency wanted to discipline or prosecute agents who stray beyond its own comfort level, the legal tools to do so may no longer exist.

So, is the "right to crucify" behind the objections of the Bush administration to McCain's bill banning torture overseas? Someone should ask Scott McClellan. Today.

=Fitzgerald can't take down the whole federal government alone, we have to help him - keep writing the media and your Congresspersons to do what is right!

57. It wouldn't surprise me . . .
if Rove wiggles out of this with nothing greater than a misdemeanor. Then we'll all hear about technicalities for the next six months.

I would lay odds that these guys would resort to dirty tricks (directed against Fitzpatrick, for example) the moment the ink is dry on an indictment.

Isn't Rove's First Law to Attack the Attacker?

59. And that would work if Fitz were a politician
But he's not and he will hand down what is prosecutable and provable.

60. Oh, I don't know
I'd kind of like it to simmer (with lots of media speculation) until, say, September or October and then I'd like an indictment handed down against Rove and Cheney and hell, Rumsfeld and Rice if we can get 'em. I want this country to seep in the Republican Culture of Corruption or as Molly Ivins likes to say, have it tied around our collective neck like you tie a chicken to a chicken killer dog until it rots off of its neck. By then, that dog won't ever hunt another chicken and hopefully America won't ever elect another Republican.
