Diebold Documents Spark International Campaign
Swarthmore, Pa. -- When American citizens step into the voting booth tomorrow, will their votes be counted? Today, with Diebold Elections Systems operating electronic voting in 37 states, the answer is a resounding "maybe." As a result of widespread security flaws and the lack of any verifiable check on their systems, Diebold cannot guarantee the accuracy of any election in which their machines are present.

An electronic campaign initiated two weeks ago by Why War? has sparked students from fifty universities nationwide to host copies of internal Diebold memoranda which demonstrate the insecurity and unreliability of their voting machines.

Why War's website has been innundated with e-mails and visitors from individuals worldwide pledging their support and offering to defy Diebold's attempts at suppression by hosting mirrors of the provocative documents.

1. Democrats Need To Raise Hell About The Republican
manufactured and programmed voting machines! Where is Jimmy Carter? Why does he believe that elections in America should be crooked but not crooked in other countries?

2. Why vote?
If Amerikan officials determine the outcome...why should I...or, anyone else vote?

6. Because giving up is not an option...
I agree that things are bleak, and with the potential for large scale voter fraud that is made possible by these machines, they are getting bleaker.

But let's put it into perspective: Right now, all's you gotta do is show up at the polling booth and vote. You don't have to face snarling dogs like those in the civil rights movement in the 60's in the south did. You probably won't have to worry about getting your head clubbed in like those who fought for unions back in the early 1900's. But if you give up, and make them think you could care less-like the Germans did in the 30's-then you let them think they can act with impunity.

No matter what, you can never give up.

7. Showing Up at the Electronic Booth is not an option, Absentee Only
Even that may be rigged, but the touch screen seems like a foolish choice

8. Stop with the negative
This is the best sign of "hope" I have seen in months of dogging this electronic voting issue. The students have now joined the cause. They are beginning to wake up. We need them in the fight to take back our country. All Duers should be writing to the heads of these colleges in support of the students becoming activist in the cause. They have been silent too long.
Don't forget to vote today!!!!!

9. I favor an "Absentee Only" campaign
for precincts that insist on using paperless systems.
1. This insures your vote is recorded on an actual piece of paper.
2. Being inundated with unprecedented requests for absentee ballots ought to get their attention.
