Bloomberg: McCain Proposes Lobbying Curbs in Response to Abramoff Scandal |
|
Bloomberg Dec. 16 http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000103&sid=aZgCri.q0thk&refer=usDec. 16 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. lobbyists would be required to disclose all money they give to lawmakers and the fund-raisers they host, under legislation introduced by Senator John McCain in response to allegations of abuse in the industry.

1. How about just ridding DC of ALL LOBBYISTS? |
|
They serve no useful purpose, other than corruption, arm-twisting and bribe-giving.
If some group or organization out there has something useful to bring to the political table, they can send the appropriate elected official some promotional literature and an Excel spreadsheet.

Throw out the crooked dealers who run the show.
They don't represent the majority of Americans (or me!!!) anyway!
PS You can take away their tax deductibility of their what they charge and impose an anti-democracy penalty tax on their fees (legal? bribery) on top of it all.
Is K Street democracy in action? Hello??? It's a lot closer to organized crime in my book. Legislators might be reluctant because like Bob Dole, they are looking to hook up with one of these 'families.'
Is there an honest politician in the house? In Congress?

3. I've had about enough of McCain's campaign finance reforms |
|
Before talking about complex new laws, first we should concern ourselves with those who violate existing laws.

4. What I found really disgusting in the discussion on CSPAN |
|
... was the GOP shill senator (it wasn't McCain, but another asswad) who claimed that the 'victim' in all this lobbying is 'the Senators' .... 'scuse me ?
They're being wined and dined, given money for their kids' educations, houses, cars, trips, and all manner of other shit in return for maybe voting a particular way, and they're the victims ??
:wtf:
No, the democratic process and the citizens of this country are the victims of all the lobbyists.
Jebus. :eyes:

Every time I read something attributed to Bloomberg, I wonder what the Mayor of New York has to do with whatever topic. He's simply going to have to change his name, no two ways about it.

6. With all due respect to Sen McCain |
|
(and it tends to rise and fall with the tides)
What's the good of all these political reform laws if your party isn't interested in following any of them ?

7. Funny, McCain wasn't so touchy about tainted money back in the day. |
|
I mean before he got caught taking money from Charles Keating.
