'J-U-N-K' is how Fitch spells Ford

Fitch downgraded Ford Motor Co. debt to junk bond status Monday, the third agency to take such a view of the No. 2 automaker in the United States.

Citing market-share erosion and competitive pressures, the big rating agency cut Ford's rating from BBB, the agency's lowest investment grade, to BB+ and also maintained its negative outlook, MarketWatch reported

GM first now Ford this is a sad day in America we who created the Model T had our industry taken over by Asia...

Sad for Americans and workers ... I think the topper for me is when Ford debuted their SUV which gets 14 mpg ... the industry did the bidding of the coporations and this is it...

1. I don't blame the workers - the "Asian" cars are made in the USA
I blame GM and Ford management for having the IQ of a dodo bird.

3. Bring back the model T
More people work for Wal Mart than the auto industry, a sad fact of the state of America and FORD may have to start make a cheap one size fits all car again.. The roads I drive are full of SUVs, the people love them , they feel more secure and can abuse the rights of the smaller cars. I get angry at times, but let them go. There are not many things I can do for America, but I do live in an American made house and drive cars, truck and motorcycles that are made by "American " companies. Last week we needed to replace an almost 30 year old snowblower that died and I could not get repaired in a reasonable time, another customer argued with me, told me I was foolish for paying more for the American made snowblower, and if the only thing I worried about was saving money it would have been foolish - but for me, knowing I buy American made as much as I can is very important. I won't pay twice as much for an American made product but if it costs a little more or even has a few less features, I will buy America.

This may all change when the time comes I am forced to work at Wal-Mart and live on Wal-Mart wages. It's easy to blame the CEOs and management, but their job is to make money for the stockholders and these days many of the stockholders are ordinary middle class working Americans retirement accounts, how many of them "think American" as opposed to "which fund gives me the most money" . The middle class worker that worries to get the best return for his money over what is best for all of America is no better than the corporate CEO, the only difference is the amount of money they work with. Each and every American holds some responsibility in the direction America is going, every day decisions add up and just pointing fingers at CEOs may make a person feel less guilty, it does not solve the problem. As long as millions of Americans continue to look only for the best return America will continue to sink into the land of Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is the symptom of the disease that is spreading throughout USA. Point fingers, blame others and wish everyone a Merrry Christmas as we all end up in the land of Wal-Mart, the symbol of greed.

2. Innovations and Poor quality on builds
Edited on Tue Dec-20-05 01:09 AM by Brundle_Fly
are pushing GM and ford into the gutter.

that and lets make a V8 mustang in a country that is buying 2 liter japanese cars that have an almost perfect record as far as quality of build.

a 1998 honda civic was $20,000
a 2002 fully loaded Tahoe was 49,000

in 2006 you can sell the civic for more than you can sell the fully loaded Tahoe, I may not know much, but I think the errors the American car makers are making are pretty business 101 kinda stuff.

You can't leverage quality on the fact that you have great leasing rates. Never works.
