Bush acknowledges anti-poverty grants have been "too slow" in coming

STATE DEPARTMENT It seems President Bush has heard the critics who say a key U-S anti-poverty program has been slow in sending aid.

He's telling officials at the State Department that the process for approving Millennium Challenge grants is sometimes "too rigorous."

...

Bush defended the 15 (B) billion-dollar program, which aims to tie foreign aid to political economic and human rights reforms.

He says it's not asking too much to demand that aid not be squandered, or pocketed by corrupt officials.

1. It's not too much to demand, no........
Unless it's Halliburton.

Then, Fuckface, you'll get your little hands slapped for trying to mess with Uncle Dickless and his buddies.

I wonder if we'll ever get human rights, political, and economic reform here.

I wonder if the victims of Katrina will ever be helped by the government.

Ah, yeah. Silly me.

2. Yes, very prudent
We wouldn't want "corrupt officials" to get their hands on government money, now would we?

That would be a crime.

4. When giving money to the rich (pandering), who needs accountability?
It's only when giving to the poor (like Jesus said to) that we need all the i's dotted and the t's crossed.

I don't know how these people can sleep at night.

5. They sleep so well
Did you see "Fahrenheit 9/11"?

Remember Fuckface, in formal attire, starting his speech to those rich Republicans in - I think - Texas?

He began his speech - this was after 9/11, mind - with a crack about speaking to his base, or, as he likes to think of them - and this is a direct quote - "... the halves and the have-nots."

Everyone glittered and laughed.

They all sleep very well at night. The sleep of the smugly entitled.

6. We should make a little list
Bush is famously long on promise, short on performance. Now, I wouldn’t want to play armchair psychiatrist and diagnose what sort of personality it is that makes grandiose plans, then fails to come through on them. But I’m sure most of us have run into the type at one time or another. So, what are some of the great promises Bush has made?

Tracking down Osama bin Laden
Finding the anthrax killer
Tracking down and firing the leaker in the White House
Mars, bitches!
The Africa AIDS relief package

Others?
