Perugia's Saadi Gaddafi has tested positive for a performance-enhancing steroid. The son of Libya's leader, who signed for the Italian club in June, was found have to what was believed to be nandrolone in his system. The doping test was carried out following the Serie A match against Reggina on 5 October. The 28-year-old had yet to play a first-team game for Perugia prior to the results.

Gaddafi is the latest Serie A player to test positive for a banned substance, in recent months. Last month, Inter Milan striker Mohammed Kallon tested positive for nandrolone, while Parma's Manuele Blasi was found with norandrosterone in his system.

Two years ago Lazio's Dutch defender Jaap Stam and former Spain international Pep Guardiola, who at the time was playing for Brescia, were both suspended after testing positive for nandrolone.
