Wild Cards Could Determine Campaign 2004 (3rd Party Candidates)
http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artman/publish/article_3425.shtml

Next November, Americans will elect, or re-elect, a president, and the outcome could be determined by the impact of a third party -- or perhaps a fourth or fifth party.

In contrast to 2000, third parties pose a greater threat to President Bush in 2004 than to the eventual Democratic nominee, said political scientist Lawrence Jacobs.

Jacobs, director of the 2004 Election Project at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey Institute, has been studying the indicators of third-party activity.

His conclusions have attracted national attention, in part because the third-party wild card has mostly been overlooked by pundits handicapping the 2004 race.

1. Correction is in order here.
Next November Americans will elect a President or the Supremes will re-select a President.

2. No matter what happens
The American people cannot possibly re-elect a president. To be re-elected you have to first be elected. :-D

3. What would happen if someone challenged Bush for the nomination?
Just asking.
