``This political crisis could not be resolved, I
believe, except with extreme actions that the
president has considered, including calling early
elections,'' Londono said.

Ricardo Galan, Uribe's spokesman, denied the
president had considered leaving the post he has
held for 15 months.

``It is not true that President Alvaro Uribe is
contemplating the possibility of resigning or
convoking early elections,'' Galan told The
Associated Press.

In a speech Wednesday at a police ceremony,
Uribe, an independent, also indicated he intended
to complete his four-year term.
