Venezuelan says U.S. makes up "stories" about Chavez government
<clips>

Caracas, Nov 6 (EFE).- A high-ranking Venezuelan foreign policy official on Thursday accused the United States of repeatedly making false accusations against the leftist-populist government of President Hugo Chavez.

"It's high time that the United States take its relationship with Venezuela seriously. It cannot be that every day, at dawn and at midday, spokespersons of the State Department throw out whatever accusation against Venezuela crosses their mind. It's as if they were suffering from indigestion," Deputy Foreign Minister Arevalo Mendez told the state-run news agency Venpress.

He urged Washington to desist in what he described as a campaign of disinformation - "high-flying stories" - mentioning as an example unconfirmed reports of the Chavez administration's alleged support of leftist Colombian rebels.

5. Legislators Present New Evidence of Opposition’s Hidden Agenda
Little by little they are releasing this information. It started with the coup and Chavez saying he had information about ships and US military personnel being involved--at that time he gave the benefit of the doubt saying that he "hoped" that wasn't true. Recently they said they had proof and the US, including MOC, denied it. Then they came out with a video naming names, and this time they have a taped conversation of the opposition talking about the CIA wanting to talk to them. Wonder what will be next. As this unfolds it looks more and more damning for the US. They're smart doing it this way 'cause then it just doesn't go away. Keep the light on it, Hugo!!!

In a press conference today, pro-government legislators Nicolas Maduro, Juan Baretto, and Roger Rondón presented a taped telephone conversation between former Fedecamaras Chamber of Commerce president Carlos Fernandez and an advisor to the union federation CTV. In the conversation, Carlos Fernandez and the advisor mention contacts with the CIA and plans to contact different branches of Venezuela’s industry, presumably to organize a general strike.

In the conversation, which was presented to journalists today, Fernandez says, “The CIA wants to talk to us. Accept everything they say.” Also mentioned in the conversation is the need to get in touch with Thor Halborssen, someone who was convicted and imprisoned for organizing bombings in Venezuela over ten years ago.

4. CBS to air EVERYBODY loves Reagan starring David Hasselhoff
Edited on Thu Nov-06-03 11:39 AM by jmcgowanjm
“Buckling under pressure from loyalists of
former President Ronald Reagan, CBS
announced today that it would shelve its
controversial Reagan miniseries starring
actor James Brolin and would instead air
a new miniseries, "Everybody Loves
Reagan," starring former "Baywatch"
star/recording artist David Hasselhoff.

”The casting of the muscular Hasselhoff
appears to be CBS' calculated response
to criticism that Mr. Reagan as played by
Mr. Brolin seemed too passive and out-
of-the-loop in the now-abandoned film. -
The Borowitz Report

And this-
Nor was there any comment about NBC's
upcoming 'movie event' Saving Jessica
Lynch, a project that I can say, from personal
experience, will be every bit as historically
revisionist and hallucinogenically patriotic
as DC 9/11.

3. Venezuelan Recall Campaign Lacks Luster
<clips>

CARACAS, Venezuela, Nov 06, 2003 (AP Online via COMTEX) -- To the dismay of Venezuela's opposition, an upcoming petition drive for a recall vote against leftist President Hugo Chavez hasn't drummed up much enthusiasm in this oil-producing nation.

Voter apathy, fears of possible violence during the Nov. 28-Dec. 1 sign-up and traditional voter abstention rates of 40 percent or more are some of the reasons given for the campaign's lack of luster.

Opponents of Chavez, a populist former army paratrooper who led a botched 1992 coup, hope to gather 2.4 million signatures required to hold a presidential recall. Chavez's six-year term ends in 2007, but critics want a referendum next year, citing Venezuela's painful recession and political strife.

Antonio Gil, president of the polling firm Datanalisis, said the campaign lacks spunk because Venezuela's opposition doesn't have a single charismatic leader who can win over undecided voters.

It also hasn't offered a platform as a clear alternative to Chavez's socialist policies, Gil said. "The fervor is not there," he said. "There is no project and there is no leader."

6. Looks like they are becoming appropriately unsure of themselves
It's a little harder to pull off now that people are starting to get a glimpse of how perverse their movement actually is!

I checked for other articles written by the reporter of this story quickly, and found this one which may have a factoid which hasn't been over-discussed yet:

Lawmakers Say Chavez Tape Proves CIA Plot

Date: 10/23/2003

http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,1280,-3298036,00.html

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - Lawmakers allied with President Hugo Chavez showed a videotape Wednesday which they claim was evidence the CIA was working with Venezuelan dissidents to overthrow the government. The U.S. Embassy denied the allegations.

The video, played at a news conference at Congress, showed three unidentified men speaking in Spanish about making contacts with an unspecified embassy. They discussed ``blending in'' and changing cars to avoid detection. The roughly six-minute tape appeared to have been edited.

Interpreting the video, ruling party lawmaker Nicolas Maduro said it showed U.S. secret agents training dissident military officers and municipal police in espionage and ``terrorist'' tactics. He said it was filmed in Venezuela in June. (snip)

(snip) According to Maduro, the video allowed lawmakers ``to deduce'' that the United States was involved. ``This is proof the CIA is acting here.''

The video was given to Chavez allies by a police officer who decided to abandon the alleged CIA training program, Maduro said. He said the tape would be turned over to the U.S. Congress. (snip/...)

8. Should begin a timeline on these US destablization efforts to overthrow
the democratic government of Venezuela. It is very apparent to those of us who watch it regularly.

After the US denied the CIA had anything to do with the opposition, the news wires were promptly flooded with articles about Venezuela being *polarized* and that the US was *worried*. All a f*ck'n diversion to the articles that continue to come out about the proof Venezuela has. USAID-whose cousin the NED funds the opposition in Venezuela to no less than $5,000,000 this next year--had a slew of articles on Google News that were picked up by different sources--all of course saying the same tripe. The US propanganda machine in action.

10. Lucky you!
Sounds like a film with absolutely no equal.

Those of who may have to wait a long time before it comes to our areas do carefully read everything we can find on it.
