Some advice for the good Dr. - watch your back (no small planes) - keep saying the things that need to be said, but be more careful HOW you say them. The flag comment was perfect when he was less known, but the stakes are higher now and the stage gets bigger. Cant hide behind being a "small state gov" much longer. - build constituencies in the party starting with all the other candidates (well ok Kerry may never over this whole deal but the rest anyway)

My biggest problem with Dean, and I am a VERY strong Dean supporter, is that he seems to think he can get away with being undiplomatic. And that's not true. There is a time and a place for everything, and he has to get groomed for the larger arena if he wants to play in it.
It takes a big headed person to run for president. I won't pretend that arrogance isn't a necessary quality. But daggone-it, he needs to come across as an adult, and sportsmanlike in his demeanor if he really wants to win. Being angry all the time... it has gotten him this far. But now he needs something new. We need to see a Dean who is capable of building coalitions. I hope we see it soon.
Maybe he could reach out to Graham.

He's not angry, except when it comes to stating his opposition to Bush policies. Then it's totally appropriate. Even more, it wakes up the electorate from the doldrums that they have been in for .. forever it seems.
He's got the message and the ability to get it out there IMO.

I remember how he seemed to galvanize people behind him in that last debate when he got up to make his final comments. I remember the body language vividly. And he was inclusive, forceful, in command. But polite as always and quite understated.
I like Dean too, even if I don't agree with all his positions. Hope the rest of the country gets to see more of him and realizes that part of his charm (for lack of a better term at the moment) is that instead of telling me how I should think, he gives me a voice and a community - albeit online - to share that voice.
Graham would be good. Also, I had a feeling after reading the other candidates take on the flag thing that Dean and Edwards are being quite conciliatory to one another. In particular Dean saying that he decided to apologize after seeing Edwards' reaction. Hmm..possible role for Edwards down the line?

I'm concerned that SEIU said that they are "not considering any other candidate." No offence towards Dean, but why not?
Granted, I'd be a hell of alot more concerned if they were backing Bush, but they shouldn't hand anyone their endorsement unconditionally. We need to keep the heat on these candidates to keep the heat on the Repugs.

44. Extremely Significant. Dean is Now Locking Up the Nomination. |
|
I know this is hard for many to swallow here, but the facts are clear. Candidate Dean has simply beaten all the rest of the pack in every single area where it counts.
The trend of union after union now endorsing Dean who leads in all three intial state contests next year; and who leads in fundraising; and who has 1/2 million signed up volunteers networking on his behalf is proof that the race for the nomination is over.
It's time for the others to begin to gracefully bow out and to allow Dean to focus squarely on the Bush White House.
