Ted Nugent for Michigan Governor?
What will they think of next? Just heard this on the local news and did a quick google:

At least we don't have to worry about this till '06. Unless they try to pull a "California" here.

10. I hope so
California elected an Austrian-born-body-builder-turned-actor-grope-meister as their governor last month.

You'd be surprised at what star-struck people will do.

13. I hope you've seen the LBN
stating the CA Secy of State has already found some Floriduh-type Diebold hands in the mix! At least, Alameda County (liberal, diverse) has been attacked & perhaps all those votes rendered uncounted...we'll see...

All he does is kill animals with his mighty bow.

26. I hope Michiganders are smarter than that.
Surely someone as utterly repellant as Ted Nugent couldn't get more than 20% of the vote, regardless of what party endorsed him.

Of course, I have been known to be wrong. Please let me be not full of shit on this.

4. While I wouldn't exactly endorse Nugent
... at least you know that his right wing extremist views are his own, and he won't be an empty suit for the Bush Criminal Empire like the Gropenator is and Dennis "save my career" Miller would be.

7. Oh, hell. I was afraid of this.
pretty soon we'll see them putting celebrities -- ANY celebrity as long as they've got name recognition -- up for office. and perhaps people are dumb enough to elect them. Then the shadow men come along and manipulate the puppets.

I would hate to think my beloved state started this trend by electing James Janos as governor. Oh, he's also known as Jesse Ventura. though he never actually changed his name. Proved for four straight years what an asshole a public figure could be.

C'mon, Michigan. you're one of my favorite states. don't do this.

8. We have a puppet pResident, right? It IS their new strategy.
The ne'er do well son of Poppy had nothing to offer but name recognition and they ran him and installed him. Theey simply want to load elected offices with their puppets.

14. Arnold has better people skills
I was at a concert in 1978 called, “Cal Jam 2”. Teddy Boy proceeded to give an interview over the P.A. saying his usual rant. Many people missed the introduction of the interview and started to boo Mr. Nugent not knowing that it was he speaking. Some of the crowd seems to become very hostile as the interview continued. Lucky for the event, it was a short interview.

22. Nugent Is An Average Guitarist
I saw him on stage in Atlanta in 1968 when he had a group called the Amboy Dukes. Jimi Hendrix who was on the same bill ABSOLUTELY BLEW HIM OFF THE STAGE!!!!! Nugent's assinine remarks about Hendrix and the 60's generation have earned for him my eternal hatred. The guy sucks.

24. Betcha Da Yoopers ask to join Da Canucks...You Betcha!
Pity. I rather enjoyed vacationing on the west coast of Michigan...
Well, there's always Door County...

What the Michiganders need to understand is that Jesse Ventura did NOT destroy Minnesota. They could almost bet on "The Nooge" (ryhms with "splooge")pounding what's left of their economy down the toilet. The whole state would go the way of Benton Harbour...

25. Nugent was a yellow-livered draft dodger!

“For all his right wing rhetoric and tough talk during the Gulf War, Terrible Ted was a yellow-livered draft dodger. In fact Ted went to great lengths to fail his army physical. He fasted for a week and drank pot after pot of coffee to drive up his blood pressure. He didn't bathe for weeks and showed up with a turd in his pants and another in his hair. Uncle Sam found Ted unfit for military service. Wouldn't have been a cryin' shame if that incredibly talented rocker had died in battle? I think Ted knew that the future of rock depended on him and Vietnam was just too big a risk to take.”

27. Nugent was a supporter of APARTHEID

"Lamenting a changing South Africa, in 1990 rock musician and NRA board member Ted Nugent told the Detroit Free Press magazine that "apartheid isn't that cut and dry. All men are not created equal. The preponderance of South Africa is a different breed of man. I mean that with no disrespect. I say that with great respect. I love them because I'm one of them. They are still people of the earth, but they are different. They still put bones in their noses, they still walk around naked, they wipe their butts with their hands.... These are different people. You give 'em toothpaste, they f---ing eat it.... I hope they don't become civilized. They're way ahead of the game." In the same interview, Nugent expounded on his racial views, "I use the word n- ---r a lot because I hang around with a lot of n----rs, and they use the word n----r, and I tend to use words that communicate...."

33. And he "loves him because he's one of them"?
Will Michigan vote for a governor with a bone in his nose, who wipes his butt with his hands, and who eats the toothpaste he's given? Over a serious politician with a law degree and sexy bedroom eyes?

Geez, Jesse Ventura really started something, didn't he? There are still Jerry Springer rumors here in Ohio.

29. this thread...sheesh!!
michigan (senators Levin and Stabenow--check their voting records, yeah?) elected Granholm as Gov in the last election. all of you wringing your hands that MI might be too stupid and suddenly elect poopy pants... well, it's really not bloody likely.

i know it's too much to ask that DU folk have a clue before spouting, but really! this thread is just too much.

let me spell it out. nugent, or the nooge, or whatever you call it, hasn't a chance. it would be great fun, because in michigan, we have a sense of humour!

After years of Engler (R), Governor Granholm has her work cut out for her. She is proving to be up for the job!

I posted to let people know how low the dark side will go. I'm glad to see so many are as disgusted as I was to hear this news.
