London Police Bear Down for Bush Visit
LONDON (AP) - The Metropolitan Police said Thursday that it has canceled all leaves for its officers during President Bush's visit to Britain later this month, when protesters are expected to stage large demonstrations against the war in Iraq.

...

Anti-war protest group Stop the War Coalition has promised ``absolutely enormous protests'' during Bush's visit, which begins on Nov. 18 and ends Nov. 21.

``Bush is here for a photo opportunity, and we are going to make sure wherever Bush goes, every photo opportunity will have thousands of protesters in the background,'' said Ghada Razuki, a spokeswoman for Stop the War Coalition.

...

Opposition to the Iraq war was strong in Britain. Several large protests were held during the war and one since Bush declared an end to major combat on May 1. The largest was on Feb. 15, when between 750,000 and 2 million people marched through central London.

2. Bush's photo-op..............
is going to turn into a nightmare. My only hope is that our "free press" won't sanitize the coverage to make the unelected idiot come out smelling like a rose.......again. I suppose I should wake up to the reality that our "free press" isn't that free, and that they'll do anything to cover up the fact that the rest of the world hates him.

13. Let's all get this straight...
It' impossible to UN-elect bush*. bush* was NON-elected. To UN-elect bush* he would have had to be the sitting president and lose his re-election bid. It's like un-tying your shoes, they had to be tied before you can UN-tie them, if you shoes have never been tied, then you can say they are NON-tied.
Plus we're NOT lefties here, we believe in LIBERALISM. Leftists can be conservatives like the leftists that ran the FSU (former soviet union). We are the right because we ARE usually right.Conservatives are the WRONG-wingers because they are usually wrong.
Just keep saying it over and over, it will become a meme.

15. This is a semantic problem. In Canada and the UK (and others)
Liberals are centrists. I call myself a leftist, but I'm not a socialist or Communist, I'm a social democrat. So if I were American, I'd be a liberal, but because I'm Canadian, I'm not a liberal (in the Canadian sense). That probably makes very little sense, doesn't it!

does not sound like they will be using a First Amendment zone.

8. Now it's not funny anymore, Bush will bury Blair
Bush will put his arm around Blair (click click) and say what a good friend Blair is and all that,

problem is Bush is despised in the UK and Blair is already on the ropes with his own party for his stupid role in Iraq

This means Blair's days are numbered and without him the UK might fall into a conservative government in just over about a year of so

Why is Bush going there?

9. If Bush still had his "Mission Accomplished" banner...
He could deploy his squadron of 'elete-naval-banner-toters' to always keep his "Mission Accomplished" banner behind him for every photograph.

Of course the Banner-Toters would have to step lively, in order to always keep the banner stratigically behind our glorous leader. Perhaps instead they could just keep a giant American flag wrapped like a giant cloth triangle around our Living-God, but never comming closer than ten feet...like a big tent...

Perhaps instead of sailors, the White House could hire some Moonie's from Reverend Moon's Washington Times staff, and when the London protesters start to moon Bush, the spin on Bush's FAUX-TV would be to hear and see nothing about the protesting mooner's ass cracks but instead we would only hear about the crack Mooney brigade and their 'big tent,' which protected Bush from the London rain... or some such simular Rovian PR disinformation campaign.

10. There'll be a few surprises for him that aren't just on the streets!
He must be desperate to bluff this one out. Too much of a coward to actually step on Iraqi soil when he went to the Gulf, he thinks that what the good old brits really want is to see his ugly mug on their turf. Just who is his pr adviser and image consultant?

The brits would prefer a mass outbreak of irreversible gonorrhea to a state visit by this pus ball.

17. I hope the 'Bare Your Bum at Bush' protests happen.
From the website:

Method
George Bush is unlikely to walk around the streets kissing babies because of the large number of people that wish to blow him up. However, a 'Brits love Bush' photo-op of happy crowds greeting the man may be in the offing and it's vitally important that we rob him of such a lucrative propaganda device. By attending such gatherings (by accident or design) and ensuring that you bare your buttocks as he passes by, you either render any photos taken at that moment unusable or make a very clear indication of what Britain thinks of this bigoted warmonger.

. . .

Baring Your Bum
If you hear of a visit to your part of town or happen to see George W Bush, bare your arse in his general direction. Don't be afraid to wiggle it about a bit and maybe even spread your cheeks; this is a political statement you're making and you don't want to do things by halves, now do you?

Threatening To Bare Your Bum
Write to your chosen local, national or foreign newspaper and inform them that you, as a British citizen, fully intend to do your civic duty and bare your arse at George W Bush. In this same letter, you may also wish to call upon other readers to do the same.

. . .

Many people have signed up for the alert list, ready and willing to bare their bums for the nation. Please feel free to join us.

ALERT LIST - If you would like to receive information the moment we have a clear idea of dates/times/plans, send an email to bums AT bloggerheads DOT com to go on the alert list.

protest (or a bum for that matter) but it's my personal protest against this glob of cells disguised as a human being.

may "The Force" be against him!

man, I wish I could be there! What a blast it's going to be. The British have shown much more support for their troops, they have been much more vocal about this war, and they have really nailed Blair over the months.

Some have written that they have more freedom in the U.K., and I guess it shows.

So visualize this: Bush makes a nervous trip to London, surrounded by an entire entourage of secret service people. Security will be the burning issue. British intelligence will try to be on top of things, but they really wish to hell he hadn't decided to come for a "visit".

The Queen will greet him nervously, for she will be only too aware that Bush, who brings destruction and riots wherever he goes, will be causing enormous, angry protests in the streets. She'll secretly curse him, and hope to God he'll go home soon. As she's shaking his hand, she wonders who he's related to since he claims an English heritage.

She gives him an icy stare with a frozen smile on her face. After all, she has more important things to worry about. Like "dear" Charles.

PS On the phot Op: don't worry about Ole King George. They will have plenty of opportunities to fix up some staged "impromptu" photos. They'll just use Adobe Photoshop!

23. We still have friends in England
who love democracy and peace as we do. Thank you, friends, for the massive protests before the war, and your continuing efforts to end this needless bloodshed. The freedom and peace-loving people of our great countries should continue to work together to end the rule of the corporate cabal. We will be victorious but it will not be easy.

24. Will they be using "fake" police like they did in Australia?
Recently, it was reported that a number of civilians were recruited and dressed as 'cops' during Junior's recent trip down under.

I wonder if the London Police are planning the same 'masquerade' to swell their ranks?
