Report: Turkey Won't Send Troops to Iraq
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 9:32 a.m. ET

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- Turkey will not send its troops to Iraq to relieve U.S. forces there, the Anatolia news agency reported Friday.

Turkey's semi-official Anatolia agency cited government sources Friday saying Turkey decided not to send troops.

Turkey's military has decided to stop preparations for deployment as well, media reports said.

2. It's history
The Turks and Iraqis have a long history of bad blood.

That is why they were asked for help in a support role in the first place.

It was believed that if Turkey assisted with troops, it would make the advance from the north more difficult due to the issue of ethnic warfare.
