Attacks Continue As U.S. Raids Tikrit
http://abcnews.go.com/wire/World/ap20031108_163.html

TIKRIT, Iraq Nov. 8 — Insurgents kept up attacks on U.S. troops and their allies across Iraq on Saturday despite a show of force in Saddam Hussein's hometown following the crash of a Black Hawk helicopter that apparently was shot down.
All six U.S. soldiers aboard were killed in the Friday crash, capping the bloodiest seven days in Iraq for Americans since the fall of Baghdad.

Lt. Col. Steven Russell, commander of the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, also said U.S. forces had reimposed the 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew on Tikrit, which had been lifted at the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan last month.

"This is to remind the town that we have teeth and claws and we will use them," Russell said after his troops blasted two abandoned houses and a warehouse with machine gun and heavy weapons fire.

He said the buildings were believed to have been used by insurgents to mount attacks on Americans.

The military command in Tikrit said the crackdown dubbed "Operation Ivy Cyclone" included patrols, ambushes and search raids aimed at flushing out anti-coalition fighters.

BAGHDAD (AFP) - Two US soldiers were killed and one wounded when a military vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in the hotspot Iraqi town of Fallujah.

"Two were killed in action and one wounded when a military vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED) at 8:30 am (0530 GMT)," a military spokeswoman said Saturday.

A US army captain in Fallujah earlier told AFP the vehicle was a Bradley.

2. I believe this is made for the murkin tv viewing audience....
I can't for the life of believe the military really thinks this will make any difference to the Iraqis. Then again they could be using Israel's playbook, which works just swell..... :eyes:

6. This week, my thoughts went back
to the movie "Star Wars". Governor Tarken was about to issue the death sentence to Princess Leia's home planet Dantooine (?).

Just as he's about to 'push the button on destruct', Leia says "the more you try to crush us, the more star systems will slip through your fingers". She says sweetly, but defiantly. He looks at her sarcastically, and waves with his hand to continue destruct.

We have become that Evil Empire. Darth Vader is our leader.

7. Are we beginning a new era in US warfare in Iraq?
Are we now entering into an era of bulldozzing and bombing indiscriminately as does Israel with the Palestinians...a policy that has yet to stop anything but guarantees that more people will come to hate us.
Who did we kill? How many? Were they really "insurgents" are just Iraqi citizens? Will we ever find out?

10. Just take a visit to freeperland... They constantly cry out for genocide.
These are Bush's supporters and advisors.

What do you expect from people like this. If America survives another 50 years, the history books will describe this as one of the blackest moments of American history.

Gotta root out those insurgents, no matter what the cost!

12. I remember the first time I saw this photo in LIFE Magazine.
It is still as horrifying as it was. I'm afraid we are recreating scenarios such as this even as I type.

9. Tired of the word 'insurgent'!
These are 'resistance fighters' attacking illegal occupiers, not rebels fighting against legitimate authority! More BS semantics from the BFEE-owned media! Liberal media my ass!
