President Upbeat About "The State of the Union"

WHITE HOUSE (AP) - A White House spokesman says President Bush is optimistic about the future, and his State of the Union speech will reflect that.

Scott McClellan says the president will be upbeat Tuesday night when he talks several issues including the economy and health care.

Bush is confident that even though this is a mid-term election year, he and Congress can work together and make progress on those issues.

Dell Adds 5,000 India Jobs

From call centers to testing, and perhaps even manufacturing, the No. 1 computer maker wants in on India.

January 30, 2006

Dell said Monday it will add 5,000 jobs in India over the next two years.

The Round Rock, Texas-based computer maker already has a headcount of 10,000 employees in three locations across India. A new call center, to open during April of this year, will be established at a fourth location and employ 700 to 1,000 people, according to Dell CEO Kevin Rollins.

Dell is also considering setting up a manufacturing center in India. Such a move could help boost the sale of Dell computers in India, Mr. Rollins told reporters after a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The company plans to double the staff at its product development and testing center in Bangalore, which currently employs 300 engineers. During Mr. Rollins’ previous visit to India in April 2005, he had said Dell would make India a hub for the company’s software development and back-office work.

2. make progress on those issues?
How many more years are we supposed to wait for him to make progress on those issues? Tax cuts were supposed to make everything all better? How come it hasn't?

How come when we had such great stuff happening in the '90s everyone seemed to think we needed to shift course?

I don't get this country.

5. Bush is a damn liar:
Secondly, there are such things as roving wiretaps. Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires -- a wiretap requires a court order. Nothing has changed, by the way. When we're talking about chasing down terrorists, we're talking about getting a court order before we do so. It's important for our fellow citizens to understand, when you think Patriot Act, constitutional guarantees are in place when it comes to doing what is necessary to protect our homeland, because we value the Constitution. -GWB 2002

Liar.
