President Bush arrived in the Twin Cities today to kick off his initiative to improve science and math education, while protesters in Maplewood rallied against everything from budget cuts to the Iraq war.
Bush was scheduled to visit 3M Co. in Maplewood to talk about his school plan and an initiative to make America's workers more competitive.
Some roads around the Twin Cities will be blocked along Bush's route to and from 3M. But knowing that won't be much help to motorists: Officials don't release information about which route the president is taking.

Before Bush arrived, Donald McFarland, the Minnesota director of Americans United, said he expected more than 100 protesters in a parking lot near 3M. They planned to rally against everything from budget cuts and corporate tax breaks to domestic surveillance and the Iraq war.
note: It's a pretty nice day. There will be a lot more than 100 because other groups mobilized their members, too.
