Death In Pa. Hepatitis Outbreak
One of five people hospitalized with complications from a hepatitis A outbreak that has infected more than 185 people died Friday night, hospital officials said.

The victim died less than a week after Pennsylvania health officials announced cases of the infectious liver disease apparently linked to a Chi-Chi's Restaurant at the Beaver Valley Mall, about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

Susan Manko, a spokeswoman for UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh, declined to release further information about the patient.

hepatitis A is spread by eating something contaminated with the feces of someone with hepatitis A, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

1. This is all over the news here in W. PA.
The whole thing disgusts me. If you can't wash your goddamn hands after you take a shit, get the hell out of the food business! You think people want to ingest your f'in feces, you f'in hog?

I apologize for my foul language in LBN, but this is truly gross. My stomach gets queasy at the mention of it.

3. Well, you have a point there.
Can we ALL take a solemn vow that we will wash our hands after moving our bowels? Please?

4. Chi-Chi in big doo-doo?
Edited on Sat Nov-08-03 08:59 PM by LittleApple81
This is really kind of inappropriate, but in my country of origin chi-chi means pee (word used by little children). So Chi-Chi is in deep doo-doo?

Seriously, I am really sorry about these poor people getting sick and now one dead.

5. Not sure if it was my Chemisty lab experiments or I'm naturally a freak?
But particles can easily transfer in any environment and situation. It's only common sense which almost no one seems to have.

1. poo poo
2. flush. (just touched something a hundred people touched).
3. wash hands, push soap button, turn on water. (just touched something a hundred people touched).
4. rinse. turn off water. (just touched something a hundred people touched and now your hands are recontaminated.)
5. pull paper towel button to dry hands. (just touched something a hundred people touched).
6. open door. (just touched something a hundred people touched).

But I don't think this is the answer, in the big picture. For a million years our immune system has been exposed to 'bugs'. In the last 50 years we just can't stop being exposed to the 'bugs', can we? Can we eliminate all bugs then everyone can live forever? We're walking down roads where I'm lost.

7. The new hand washing systems that they have in highway rest stops
are interesting, wash rinse and blow dry without touching anything at all. Seems like this might be the way to go.. other than becoming like
the Jack Nicholson character in oh hell I can't remember the name of the movie where he had ocd.
