U.S. General Was Aboard Downed Helicopter (not)
Edited on Sun Nov-09-03 08:26 AM by party_line
Okay, it's early and I've read this article more closely and it actually says the Gen WASN'T on board the downed helicopter even though the title says so

TIKRIT, Iraq -- An American major general was aboard a military helicopter that flew with the Black Hawk that crashed here last week, a U.S. officer said Sunday. The Black Hawk was apparently shot down by insurgents here in Saddam Hussein's hometown.

The helicopter carrying the general, whom the military refused to identify, landed safely, according to Maj. Josslyn Aberle, spokeswoman of the 4th Infantry Division.

The Black Hawk helicopter, however, burst into flames Friday and plummeted into a grassy field on the eastern bank of the Tigris River, military officials said, citing witnesses. Six soldiers, including two from the Department of the Army headquarters at the Pentagon, were killed.

An investigation was underway Sunday to determine whether mechanical failure or hostile fire caused the crash, but several officers believed the Black Hawk was shot down.

We let loose the hounds of war on that city. I saw video of tanks firing on that city, during a report that stated that tanks and Bradley fighting vehicles went through the city and just blasted homes. It was at that moment when I said to myself, this isn't Vietnam, we have our own West Bank now.

The sad thing is this indiscriminate bloodshed will only improve Americans' approval ratings of how Dipshit is running Iraq. The 2 heli's getting shot down really hurt his ratings on Iraq, this will bump it back up. Vengeance sells well with Americans, justice is too hard and complicated.

12. Lou Dobbs was so desperate for positive spin when this happened that
he and the CNN correspondents touted the fact that the "other" helicopter was downed, not the one carrying the general. This was positive because the "insurgents" would have gained great psychological advantage by killing a general's helicopter.
