Gore slams Bush on civil liberties

FORMER vice president Al Gore has accused President George W. Bush of failing to make the US safer after the September11 attacks and using the war against terrorism as a pretext to consolidate power.

"They have taken us much farther down the road toward an intrusive, 'big brother'-style government - toward the dangers prophesied by George Orwell in his book 1984 - than anyone ever thought would be possible in the United States of America," Gore charged.
Gore, who lost the disputed 2000 presidential election to Bush, said terrorism-fighting tools granted after September 11 amounted to a partisan power grab that had led to the erosion of the civil liberties of all Americans.

4. This administration is using the war

to take away our civil liberties, deficit spend, give tax cuts, make their buddies billionaires, scare the shit out of people, it is an excuse for the poor economy and the initial job losses. In short, they are using this war as means to push their right wing agenda. No wonder he was in such a rush.
