Iraq witnesses heavy casualties on US-led coalition forces

BAGHDAD, Nov. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Iraq again witnessed a heavy loss on the US-led coalition troops as up to nine US soldiers were feared killed by guerillas in two days and Poland suffered its first military toll in Iraq, according to statistics by Friday.

Six US soldiers were killed on Friday morning when a Black Hawkhelicopter they were on board crashed near Tikrit, Saddam Hussein'shometown in northern Iraq, said the military.

It was not clear if the helicopter was taken down by hostilefire although many believed it was.

Also on Friday, another soldier was killed and six others wounded in an ambush involving rocket-propelled grenades and smallarms fire in Mosul, the third largest Iraqi city and 400 km north of Baghdad

6. I'm confused about the weekly number, too.
Edited on Sun Nov-09-03 07:25 PM by VolcanoJen
Even on the Centcom site, if you count their reports from Sunday, November 2 through Saturday, November 8, you come up with 31 killed that week. Also, the soldier killed on November 5 died of a "non-hostile gunshot wound," which would bring the US combat deaths for the week to 30...

I've heard a few different numbers tossed around, but what really is the actual number of US soldiers who died this week? What are the dates the other sources are using?

8. There were 2 yesterday
and 1 reported today in GD but this article, posted this afternoon is dated 11-7. The other articles aren't running a total like the ones that came out at the time of this piece were.

(tried a search but it's too gruesome- what's certain is that this is dated the 7th)

7. The edumacashun president is now the population control president, too
Americans didn't deserve this kind of debauchery.

But - between shunning the polls and refusing to vote their interests - it's impossible to say they weren't warned.
