WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidates John Kerry and Joe Lieberman launched Veterans Day attacks on President Bush for his treatment of former service members and outlined their own plans for improving benefits.

``On this Veterans Day, particularly with 135,000 soldiers on duty in Iraq and others in the Balkans, Afghanistan and elsewhere ... we should commit ourselves to take good care of them the other 364 days of the year,'' Lieberman said Sunday while campaigning in New Hampshire.

``We must do our part to care for those who have borne the burdens of battle,'' Kerry said in material prepared for a round of appearances Monday in Iowa. ``This is about keeping America's promise.''

A copy of the initiative Kerry was unveiling at his Monday stops was provided to the Associated Press late Sunday.

1. anyone know the percentage of
republicans : democrats for military personnel?

I wonder if the war in Iraq and such will alter the ratio a bit in favor of dems with armed service men?

3. Don't think the military is as heavily Republican
as we might think - article about it the other day and a man was on C-Span discussing it.

2. Clark will be focusing on veterans Monday in AZ
Clark will be visiting a VA hospital Monday in AZ. Hopefully all nine candidates will make it open season on Bush and the GOP for their shameful betrayal of veterans this week. The underfunding and understaffing of the VA medical system deserves to be exposed over and over until the corporate media whores finally pay attention.
